Thisproperty consists of two distinct works,viz.:—Three Blast Furnaces and large Rolling Mills. The Property will be offered in one Lot; and if not sold, the Works will be offered in two distinct Lots, viz LOT I.-THE FURNACES.—The three Blast Fur- naces are nearly new, and are of the most approved construction. They are capable of producing about 1,200 tons of pig iron per week. They are spe- cially adapted for smelting foreign ores, and there is steam and blowing power in connection with the Furnaces to work a fourth Furnace. The Works are not only conveniently situated for export, being within a short distance of the extensive docks and shipping facilities at West Hartlepool, but are in a most favourable position for the importation of foreign ores. There are about 36 Acres of Land and large Brickworks in connection with the Furnaces. LOT 2.—The ROLLING MILLS stand on about 9 Acres of Land, and consist of 116 Puddling Furnaces, with other Furnaces in proportion; 3 large Forge Trains, 7 Steam Hammers; a Rail Mill, capable of turning out 40,000 Tons of Rails per annum; a Plate Mill, capable of producing 10,000 Tons of Plates per annum and all other needful appliances. There is a large local demand for Plates and Shipbuilding Iron. The Rail Mill in con- junction with the Furnaces might readily be adapted for the manufacture of Steel Rails, there being ample space for erecting the additional plant required. The FLINTSHIRE STEEPLE CHASE of 250, for hunters that have never won a race previous to time of starting; four yrs old lost 31b, five list 81b, six and aged 12st 31b; entrance 92 about three miles. The OTELEY STEEPLE CHASE of £40, for horses under 15 hands; second horse to receive £5 from the stakes; four yrs old lOat, five list, six and aged list 71b; winners of any race 71b extra entrance 22 about three miles. A SELLING STEEPLE CHASE of £40, for four yrs old list, five 12st 31b, six and aged 12st 91b; winner to be sold by auction for 2100, if entered to be sold for £ 80 allowed 51b, if for £ 50 allowed 121b; the surplus (if any) to be divided between second horse and the Fund; entrance £ 2 about three miles. CONDITIONS. All entries and forfeits to go to the fund. All the above ste'eple chases are confined to certified hunters which, during the twelve months previous to the day of starting, shall not have run in any country for a I handicap, whether over a country or not, or for any race not confined to hunters, chargers, or yeomanry horses, and are to be ridden by persons qualified under Rule 160, by farmers or their sons, or persons elected annually as qualified riders. Gentlemen riders must be qualified ac- cording to Rules 160 to 166. In all hunter's stakes a certificate from a Master of Fox or Stag-hounds is required, and it must be lodged at Messrs. Weatherby's Office, 6, Old Burlington-street, London, a clear week before the race in which the horse is intended to run. Afresh certificate is required after the first of January in each year, and a fee of 2s. 6d. charged for registration. Should less than five horses be entered in any of the above races, the Stewards reserve to themselves the power to withdraw such race or races if they think proper to do so. Three horses to start in each race, or only half the added money may be given, and in case of a walk-over the whole may be withheld but in all cases where two start, sufficient will be added to make the value of the stakes not less than 220. In all plates at this meeting any number of horses the property of the same owner may run. All disputes relative to the races will be settled by the Stewards, or whom they may appoint, and such decision to be final. In all Selling Races the winner will be taken possession of by the auctioneer immediately its rider has weighed in, and he will not deliver up the same until he is satisfied of the responsibility of the purchaser. Before any objection can be entertained the parties making the objection must deposit 25 in the hands of the Clerk of the Course, and should the Stewards consider such objection to be frivolous, the £5 will be forfeited. If at the expiration of fourteen days after the date of the meeting no objection has been made to a winning horse, the Clerk of the Course will pay such moneys as he has received on account of the race to the person, or lhis agent, in whose name the horse ran, or to the person, or his agent, who entered the horse, and he will not be re- sponsible or liable in any way for the stakes should the horse be disqualified through an objection lodged after that period. Colours of the risers, horses, weights, and ages, to be declared at the time of entry, and any horse being ridden in colours contrary to those on the card, will be fined 21 to go to the Fund. This rule will be strictly enforced. Any person Riding over any Fence in the course will be fined 21. NO ILLEGAL BETTING ALLOWED.
