THE Guardians of this Union will, at their meeting, to be held on Friday, the 28th day of November next, proceed to the election of a Master and Matron for their Workhouse. Candidates must be man and wife (without incumbrance preferred), and fully competent to keep the several books and accounts, and to perform all the duties as prescribedlky the regulations of the Local Government Board. A bond, with two securities in the sum of £100, for the faithful discharge of the duties will be required. The salary of the Master will be .£40, and that of the Matron £20 per annum, with rations and apartments. It is desirable that either the Master or Matron should have a knowledge of Welsh. None who have not had previous experience need apply. The persons elected will be required to enter upon their duties at Christmas next. NOTICE is Hereby Given by the Mayor, Alder- men, and Burgesses of the Borough of Aberyst- wyth, in the county of Cardigan, acting by the Council, as the Urban Sanitary Authority thereof, as follows :— 1. That they, the said Urban Sanitary Authority, intend, on or after the 18th day of January, 1880, to commence the construction of certain water works, for supplying the said borough of Aberystwyth, and the inhabitants thereof, with water, by gravitation, from Plynlimon, commencing at, and including, the lake or pool called "Llynllieaid Rheidol," and numbered 37 on the general plan herein- after referred to, and situate in the parish or township of Trefeirig, in the county of Cardigan, to and including the site of the proposed service reservoir, hereinafter referred to, and from there to the said borough of Aberystwyth, and that among other works which they, the said Urban Sanitary Authority, so intend to constructors aforesaid, is the construction of a "service reservoir," of the esti- mated capacity of 1,000,000 gallons or thereabouts, m a field, the property of Sir Pryse Pryse, Baronet, and now in the tenure or occupation of His tenant, Richard Davies, farmer, situate in the township of Issa-yndre, in the parish of Llanbadarnfawr, in the County of Cardigan, and num- bered 17 in the said general plan, the site of which said proposed service reservoir is also shewn or marked on the said general plan. 2. Out of a single class in this school, at an examination held in connection with South Kensington, 6 passed, one only failing, five gained Queen's prizes for mathematics. One of these, direct from this school, was senior Optime in 1878. Another was Wrangler in 1879. Two gained Scholarships of £80 a year, tenable for 5 years, at Jesus College, Oxford; the other came out first in the first class at the Training College, Bangor.
