REPORT, Presented to the Shareholders at the Ordinary General Meeting, held at the City Terminus Hotel, Cannon Street, on Tuesday, the 31st July, 1877, at twelve o'clock at noon precisely. The Directors have pleasure in submitting to the Shareholders the half-yearly Statement of Accounts and Balance Sheet to the 30th June last. The gross profits for the half-year, after making provision for bad and doubtful debts, and including the amount brought forward from last account, are 255,854 9s. Id., and after deducting all current expenses, Income Tax, Di- rectors' Remuneration, Auditors' Fees, and Interest to Customers, there remains a balance of 222,288 16s. lOd. The Directors recommend that this amount be appropriated in the following manner, viz. £ 12,500 0 0 to the payment of a Dividend, at the rate of 12 £ per cent, per annum, free of In- come Tax. 500 0 0 in further reduction of Freehold and Leasehold Premises Account. 3,343 8 4 to Rebate on Bills. 5,945 8 6 carried forward. During the half-year 5,000 new shares have been issued—as on previous occasions—to customers and others resi- dent at the Branches, increasing the paid up capital to £ 200,000. The premium received on these new shares has amounted to 234,242 12s. 6d., of which £ 33,728 5s. Od. was car- ried direct to the Reserve Fund, raising it to £ 100,000 (invested separate and apart from the Bank's other funds in new 3 per cents), and the balance, £ 514 7s. 6d., to profit and loss account towards payment of the six months' divi- dend on the new shares. It is not intended to further augment the capital until the increased extent of the business renders it desirable. On a requisition from the inhabitants of Rhyl a new Branch has been opened in that town with every appearance of success in due time. It is proposed that the Dividend be payable on and after the 7th August. 7, BANK BUILDINGS, LOTHBURY, 21st July, 1877. BALANCE SHEET OF THE LONDON AND PROVINCIAL BANK, LIMITED, DR.
