THIS disease prevails to a considerable extent in -t- England, Wales, &c., in the months of October, November, December, and sometimes into April, in Lambs, although Sheep are net exempted from it; but Lambs are its general victims, and the mortality induced by the disease is occasionally very great. I now take leave to call your attention to the facl; that I have found out a remedy for preventing this disease, which has been in use for the period of six years, and proved itself a good preventive. The remedy is to be given to Lambs at the end of September, or beginning of October. To be had of all Chemists, in packets. Is. 6d. each, which contain enough for 20 Lambs, and from the Manu- facturer, RICHD. W. WILLIAMS, Chemist, Dolgelley. TO THE BURGESSES OF ABERYSTWYTH. LADIES and GENTLEMEN,—The time is rapidly approaching when my present period of office as Town Councillor will expire, and I most respectfully b<;g to offer myself as a CANDIDATE for RE-ELECTION and again to solicit the honour of your suffrages and sup- port. It was in the year 1862 that you first did me the honour to elect me, and ever since that time I have endeavoured to the utmost of my ability to serve your interests with a view to the improvement and welfare of the town: a course which, should you consider me worthy of a continuance of your confidence, it will ever be my study to pursue. I have the honour to be, Ladies and Gentlemen, Your very faithful and obliged servant, G. T. SMITH. 6, Portland-street, September 20th, 1872. TO THE BURGESSES OF ABERYSTWYTH. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,-Six years ago JLJ you did me the honour to elect me a member of the Town Council of this Borough, and during that period I have conscientiously tried to serve the interests of my fellow- ratepayers in all matters coming'under the jurisdiction of that body. The time when my period of office will expire is near at hand, and I most respectfully beg again to offer myself as a CANDIDATE for your suffrages and support. I have the honour to be, Ladies and Gentlemen, Your very obedient servant) JOHN WATKINS. TO THE BURGESSES OF ABERYSTWYTH. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,—TLe time is near at hand when you will be called upon to elect your representatives in the Town Council of this Borough, and I most respectfully beg to OFFER myself for RE-ELECTION and again to solicit your votes and support. From the time yon first did me the honour, nine years ago to elect me a member of the Council, it has been my constant endeavour to serve the interests of my fellow-ratepayers, and I trust my conduct in the past has been such as to merit a continuance of your support. I have the honour to be, LadieB and Gentlemen, Your faithful and obedient servant, 37, Pier-street, JOHN REES. September 27th, 1872. ] ( TO THE MUNICIPAL ELECTORS OF THE BOROUGH AND LIBERTIES OF ABERYSTWYTH. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,-At the urgent -t-J request of a large number of Ratepayers, I am in- duced to come forward to offer myself as a CANDIDATE at the forthcoming ELECTION of Town Count 11 rs. Having already had the honour of representing your interests on the Board of Commissioners, I can appeal with some degree of confidence to the part I invariably took, during my tenure of office as a member of that important body, in advocating all measures tending to the retrenchment of our municipal taxat:ol compatible with the amelioration of our local government, and the real' progressive improvement of the town. As the duties of the Improvement Commissioners are now absorbed by the Town Council, and as the latter body will henceforth act as the sole sanitary and rate-making power in the town, and control its entire government, I flatter myself that the experience I fcave had as a young but independent member of the late Commissioners will amount to some qualification in your estimation, and emboldens me to solicit your ( favour and support in my present candidature. Permit me to intimate, further, that if you do me the honour to elect me as one of your representatives to the Town Council at the coming election, you will find me always at my post, faithfully endeavouring, to the best of my power and ability, to support such measures only as will con- duce to the best interests and prosperity of the town at large, and the promotion of the welfare of the whole com- munity. I le» to remain, | Ladies and Gentlemen, Your most obedient Servant, ( PETER JONES. } Marine-terrace, 1st October, 1872. TO THE BURGESSES OF ABERYSTWYTH. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THE time is approaching when you will he called upon to Elect persons to represent you in the Town: Jouncil. As I have had the honour of representing you .m the Board of Commissioners for the last Twelve or Fifteen Years, you have had ample opportunities of form-l ing an opinion on my actions during that period. Most of you are aware that I have the interest of the town at heart, by the part I have taken in questions that were of vital im I portancfJ to us as Ratepayers. With some degree of pride I can refer to the active part I took in the River Pollution Question, which has brought about the inquiry which took place on the 5th of this month and also in the Aberystwj th Water Scheme, the establishing of Monthly Fairs, and other important measures. It is also my conviction that, as the Corporation of Aberystwyth will be in a few years: one of the richest in the Principality, we should appropriate some portion of it by letting for long terms, selling, or other- wise, to raise funds to pay off some of the burdens that wi bear, brought on by reckless expenditure, and to complete the drainage, the water. system, and other important and necessary Improvements. I lip not see that it is the dutv of the present generation to burden themselves, and leave such rich estates for our successors to enjoy-Vithout encumbrance. At the earnest solicitation of a large" number of electors, I ,eg to offer myself as a candidate at the forthcoming election of Town Council. Permit me to state that if you will do me the honour of electing me as your representative, that I ihall endeavour, as far as it will be igjny power and ability, to merit your confidence by supporting such measures as will advance the interest of the town and its property. I remain, your obedient servant, EDWARD ELLIS. 8, Prihcess-street, October 3rd, 1872. -» 1- ,< r. TO THE BURGESSES OF ABERYSTWYTH. Gradual Improvements with Economical Measures. RATEPAYERS, both Ladies and Gentlemen, be T3ATEPA\ERS, both Ladies and Gentlemen, be V up aJld doin»- y,m interest is at stake. Show your- selves to be people of discernment, that yos can judge between the active and the inactive, between those who are always at their post and those who are not. The time will now soon arrive when ycu will be called upon to exercise your Franchise with respect to the Town Council, whose responsibility will be greatly augmented in consequence of their having taken upon themselves the duties of the Commissioners, so that it greatlv behoves you to take the atmost cire who you put into office. My capabilities are well known to you all, having now bad nearly thirty years' experience of town business. My motto has been, and shall be, "Gradual Improvements with Economical Measures," and I can fearlessly appeal to you all for the truth of all these assertions. And if acts and deeds sav anything, these also I can lay my claim to. If I cannot pour forth a floid of eloquence to "puzzle and perplex," I can point to numerous and important measures in which I have taken active, if not a principal, part in their adoption, and which must be carried out by the persons in office. If, therefore, you think me a proper man to serve you in the Council, you will find me the man I have ever been more I cannot say. I have the honour to be, Ladies and Gentlemen, Yours most obediently, a ow CHARLES HACKNEY. Sept. 21st, 1872. THE LICENSING ACT, 1872.
