"VTOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING of the Shareholders of the Cambrian Railways Company will be held at the Railway Station, Machynlleth, in the county of Mont- gomery, on Friday, the 21st day of June instant, at one o'clock in the afternoon, for the purpose of considering and, if thought fit, approving of, the following Bill now pending in Parliament, viz. :— "A Bill to incorporate a Company for maintaining an existing Railway from theGorsedda Slate Quarry, in the county of Carnarvon, to Portmadoc, in the same county; and for making a Railway from BJaen-y- pennant, in the same county, to join the said existing Railway, and for other purposes." THE Guardians of the Poor of the above-named Union will, at their next ordinary meeting, to be held on Monday the 24th day of June instant, at the hour of Eleven o'clock 'in the foienoon, proceed to the appointment of Master and Matron of the Union Workhouse, in the room of Mr and Mrs Griffiths, who have resigned. The person appointed Master, in addition to the duties to be performed by him as such Master, will have to hold the offices and perform the duties of Relieving Officer and Col- lector to the Guardians for the district called the Aberyst- wyth district, which comprises eight parishes or townships, viz. The Town and Liberties of Aberystwyth, Broncastellan, Clarach Issayndre, Llanbadarny Croyddin Lower, Uchayndre, Vaenor'Upper, and Vaenor Lower. Candidates must be man and wife under the age of 40 years of steady, active, and energetic habits. They must be fully competent te keep accounts, and efficiently to discharge all the duties connected with their respective offices, as pre- scribed by the orders and regulations of the Local Govern- ment Board. The salary of the Master, conjointly with the offices of Relieving Officer, will be £ 40 and the Matron £ 10 per annum with rations, washing, and apartments. The allow- ance to the Collector to the Guardians will be X,5 per cent on the amount of money collected. The master will be required to enter into a bond with two sufficient sureties in the sum of 2200, for the due and faithful discharge of his duties. Applications in the handwriting of the candidates, stating age, previous and present occupation, accompanied with testimonials of recent date, to be sent to me at or before ten o'clock in the forenoon of Monday, the 24th day of June instant. The elected candidates must be prepared to enter upon their duties on the 25th day of June instant, and the appoint- ment will be made subject to the approval of the Local Government Board.
