THIS INVALUABLE MEDICINE is now considered to be the safest and most effectual remedy for Coughs, Colds. Hoarseness, Difficulty of Breathing, Influenza, Asthma, &c. Analytical Report hy Wentworth Lascelles Scott, Esq, F.C.S', F.A.S.L., F.RS.S.A., &c., on the "PECTORAL BALSAM OF SQUILLS AND HOREHOUND," prepared by D. W. Scott, M.R.P.S., Barmouth. I HAVE chemically examined the elegant preparation known as JONES'S PECTORAL BALSAM," samples for analysis having being obtained not only from the proprietor direct, but also without his knowledge, from various retail establishments. This "Pectoral Balsam" I find to be a somewhat syrupy, red fluid, having a specific gravity o" 1220, and possessing an agreeably aromatic and acidulous flavour; analytically, I find it to contain not only the well known drugs indicated in the title, but also various others perfectly compatible with them and with each other. All the ingredients are of the utmost purity and of the first quality. Therapeutically this preparation may be described as possessing, in no common degree, the properties of a bland and pleasant Expectorant and Demulcent, as well as of a mild Tonic and Sedative, while, acting also as a Carminative and Anti-spasmodic, it is calculated to afford, in affections of the Chest and Throat, permanent benefit as well as an immediate relief. Unlike many preparations of this class it may be safely administered to children of tender years, and for infants forms the best and safest soothing syrup with which I am acquainted. LONIJOP'AND w?LVEEHAMm>!T, j (s'^> WENTWORTH LASCELLES SCOTT. September 30th, 1871. [Testimonial from Capt. W. Garnett, Barmouth, Jan. 30th, 1871]. S "I HAVE been suffering for about twelve months, from severe and painful cough, which caused me many restless and sleepness nights, and wearisome and painful days. After spending much money with several medical men, with- out receiving any benefit, I was advised to try Jones's Pectoral Balsam." And I can assure you that I felt relieved after taking the first dose. When I had finished the small bottle; I was perfectly restored to my wonted health. There fore I have every confidence in recommending it to all who suffer from Colds, Coughs, and their consequences. Copies of numerous other Testimonials will be supplied on application.
