FLOYD'S HIGHLY-SUCCESSFUL SYSTEM OF RESTORING PIANO-FORTES. MR. FLOYTD, MANUFACTURER, PRACTICAL REPAIRER, REGULATOR, and RESTORER of PIANO-FORTES, from London, will visit Cardiff, Newport, Chepstow, Swansea, and the Neighbourhood, in JANUARY next, accompanied by able assistants from the first Manufactories, for the purpose of restoring the tone, touch, and actions of Pianos. Encouraged by the great success and approbation his mode of renovation has met with from Professors and Families of distinction, in Devon and other counties, he is induced to visit this county for a limited period. Mr. FLOYD is happy to state that he has succeeded in se- curing: efficient workmen in every branch of the manufacture of Piano-Fortes, thereby insuring perfect and satisfactory re- sults whilst at the same time, by his approved method and the adaptation of a Patent Felt Hammer-cloth, he is enabled to make old instruments equal to new at a comparative small outlay, producing tones vastly superior to the original—feeble- ness and discord being made to arive place to sweetness and power. The tone and touch of Pianos from constant wear become so unpleasant, that the performer very justly imagines the instrument to be almost worthless, when, in reality, at a very trifling cost, it can be restored, and afford pleasure instead of constant annoyance. No opportunity ever offered itself to the public like the present, in the Provinces, and consequently hitherto the only available remedy was to apply to Tuners, who, tu the best of their ability, adopted a plan known as re- butrilig-ill every instance doing more injury than good, to which many can grievously testify. Any instrument that Mr. FLOYD restores he will guarantee 15 years' good service, as the action is refitted as when first made in the Factory. He submits to inspection a few of the numerous Testimonials presented him by families and others of distinction, for whom he has restored dilapidated and worn instruments, which he trusts will be a sufficient guarantee of his ability and a barrier to any misrepresentation by interested persons. He will be happy to inspect any Piano, free of charge, and if unworthy the outlay, will not recommend its restoration.— Mr. FLOYD restores instruments without the inconvenience and expense of a removal to Loudon. His time being limited, an early application is respectfully solicited. Mr. FLOYD has several Piano-fortes of his manufacture with him its samples, in Walnut cases, nearly 7 octaves in compass, with metallic plate, and all the latest improvements, for sale, at moderate prices. He defies any one to surpass the class of instruments, and very few to equal them. He begs to submit the following Testimonial from Mr. W. Harrison and Miss Louisa Pyne, who have had the honour of appearing before her Majesty "Theatre Royal, Liverpool, March 5th, 1"53. Sir,—In thanking you for the loan of your Pianoforte, allow us to express our admiration of its most excellent tone, touch, and elegance of structure—qualities we believe not to be surpassed by any other house in London. We are, sir. your obliged, ,r „ '"W. HARRISON, 'To Mr. lloyd. "LOUISA PYNE." From the Rev. S. Nosworthy, Rector of Buckland Filleigh North Devon. "I have great pleasure in recommending Mr. Floyd as a restorer of Pianofortes, he having succeetled beyond expecta- tion in replacing the sounding-board, which had entirely given way. as well as improving the touch and tone, of my Piano, which is now declared by competent judges to he equal to a new instrument. I sincerely wish him every success, as he has given to myself and family entire satisfaction. S. NOSWORTHY." From Charles Richards, Esq., Flushing, Falmouth. Sir,—I have every reason to approve and to recommend your new ui ide of restoring the sweetness of tone and power to worn out Pianofortes. The instrument which you lately re- stored for me has had at least fourteen years' hard work, and was, as you know, very shaky when you took it in hand. A person with any idea of music immediately perceives the ex- traordinary improvement you have effected. Hoping you will find sufficient inducement to continue your visits occasionally, "I am, Sir, yours truly, "CHARLES RICHARDS." Letters addressed to Mr. FLOYD, Cardiff' Arm:, Hotel, Car- diff; or to Mr. Bird, Bookseller, Duke-street, will meet with prompt attention, and where Testimonials and other particu- lars may be obtained on application.
