EVENING SCHOOLS. SATISFACTORY REPORT ON WORK AT LLANGOLLEN. The following- is a copy of the renort made by II. M. Inspector on the Lla ngollen Evening School for the Session 1007.8 "For the varintv »r*< i «.'■ j of the work this school is, perhaps, the i't,aiiised J.n Denbigh- shire. The ellipse >,a.'e been organised with a due regard to the needs of the district, and their success is largely due 6 the active sympathy of the managers, not the least prominent of whom was Mr. John Rowlands, phose death this year has deprived the town of I^angollen of a resident with whom zeal for the education of the young had become a passion. Th^i teachers have been selected with special care and ajll are well qualified to do the woA- which they hav<$undertaken. Many of the students have attended! classes in previous sessions with the result that wo,rk of an advanced character is now done, particularly in the Drawing Class (members of which halve distinguished themselves in examinations) and iri Shorthand. Good progress was made in Typewritijng and in Commercial Sub- jects. The attendance in the Domestic Science Classes is not so larqe as could be wished; the lesson given at the visii of inspection was excellent. Of special interest this year were the classes in Welsh, particularly the advanced class, in which the students prepared for the Gorsedd Examinations of the National Eisteddfod of Wales held at Llan- gollen. Marked progress was made in the Wood- carving Class, the pupils of which showed great interest in their work. The managers would do well to consider the advisability of establishing a class in Gardening during the Summer months and, during next session, of affiliating the Eisteddfod Choir with the Evening School. It would be a pity for suoh a choir to lapse."
