FOOTBALL. WELSH AMATEUR CUP (FIFTH BOUND). LLANGOLLEN v. RHOS RANGERS. This re-played tie came off at Llangollen last Saturday and aroused much interest, as the winners enter the semi-final round. Rhos won the toss and, taking advantage of the strong wind, immediately pressed the Llangollen defence, which, however, was impregnable, each of the defenders playing a really fine game, Frank Jones standing oat most prominently. The play of Morris, the Llangollen custodian, was also brilliant, clearing many difficult shots in masterly style. No scoring took place during the first half. During the second half Llangollen had not the advantage of the wind as it had calmed down. Give and take played ensued, both sides having hard lines" in net scoring. Eventually, according to the referee, Frank Jones in repelling an attack by the Rhos left wing, handled the ball and as this was committed in the penalty area a penalty kick was awarded Rhos. This caased great excitement and when it was seen that the home custodian had saved the shet there was great cheering. Inspired by this stroke of luck the Llangollen forwards bucked up" and the game became even more exciting when the Llan- gollen left wing, gaining pessessioa, banged it at the goal The visiting goalkeeper, however, managed to intercept the ball and E. Ellis again shot hard into the net and scored, to the delight of the home supporters. After this reverse, Rhos tried hard to equalise, but could not break through the home defence. A very interesting and exciting game resulting in favour of Llangollen by 1 goal to nil. Llangollen now meet Bangor in the semi-final at Flint, on Saturday next, when they hope to come oat on top.
