wf>. |MFFR j J- CURES AND COMFORT FOR THE BEDRIDDEN BY HOLLOWAY'S OINTMENT. T'HIS wonderful Ointment acts like magic in relieving A. and curing old sores, wounds, bad legs, tileerta and eruptions of the skin; when rubbed on the surface it penetrates and purifies each tissue on its passage, and exerts the most wholesome influence over the internal structures* It heals by cleansing all animal fluids with which it comes iu contact, and thereby promotes a sound and permanent cure. Gout and Rheumatism, To sufferers from the racking pains of Rheumatism and Gout this Ointment wiil prove invaluable. After fomentation with warm water the soothing action of this Ointment is most remarkable; it seems at once tu lessen inflammation, ease pain, reduce the swelling, restore natural circulation, and expels the disease. For the above complaints Holloway's Ointment and Pills are in. valuable specifics. Diptheria, Bromhitis, Sore Throats, Coughs, and Colds. This class of diseases may be cured by well rubbing the Ointment, three times a day, upon the throat, chest, and back of the patient. It will soon penetrate and give immediate relief. In all stages of Influenza, Colds, and Bronchitis, this treatment may be followed with effi- ciency and safety—indeed it has never been known to fail. All Varieties of Skin Diseases, Scrofula, and Scurvy. This Ointment is a certain cure for Ringworm, Scurvy Scrofula, or King's Evil, and the most inveterate skin diseases to which the human race is subject. They can- not be treated with a safer or more speedy remedy than Holloway's Ointment, assisted by his celebrated Pills, which act so powerfully on the constitution and so purify the blood that these disorders are completely eradicated from the system, and lasting cure obtained. Piles, Fistulas, and Internal Inflammation. These complaints are most distressing to both body and mind, false delicacy concealing them trom the knowledge of the most intimate friends. Persons suffer for years from Piles and similar complaints when they might use Holloway's Ointment with instant relief, and effect their own cure without the annoyance of explaining their ail. ments to anyone. The Pills greatly assist the Ointment as they purify the blood, regulate its circulation, rene, deceased structures, and invigorate the entire system. Both the Ointmentand Pills should be used in thefollowin* cases; —- BadLegs Chiego-foot Fistulas ,5.„ Bad Breasts Chilblains Gout Ikin^ease Bums Caapped-handsj GlanduLarSweM*ags Scurvy Corns (Soft) Lumbago |sore-heads Bite of Mos- Cancers Piles Tumours chetocs & Contracted and! IMPORTANT TO JURORS.-On the first of next month i provision in a recent Act of Parliament (SO and 31. Vict., c. 35) will take effect, under which jurors both in civil and criminal cases, who object to be sworn on religious grounds, can take an affirmation or make a de- claration in lieu of an oath, which is to have the same- consequence as being sworn. 4 BUSHRANGING IN NEW SOUTH W ALES.-Some sta- tistics which have lately been published of bushranginp in New South Wales during the last few years show to what an extent this institution has grown in that colony. Since the month of June, a period of three years, eleven members of the police have been shot dead by bushrangers and sixteen wounded by fire-arms iu at- tempts to capture them. Fifteen other persons have- also been shot at and wounded by bushrangers in the last four years. It appears, however, that sooner or later all the gangs come to grief, for of the most no. torious marauders during the past five years three had been executed, two were at the time under sentence of death, seven had been shot dead, one is supposed to have. been muraered by felons, and eight were undergoing lorig terms of imprisonment. A return of offences commuted ♦J A ?aS J c (outlawed 31st Mav, 1866) shows that he has forty-five offences, such as horse stealing, robbery under arms, shooting, and murder, mo jfd against him. The number registered against his brother John Clarke is twenty.eight. The worst feature, how- ever is the secret, aid evidently afforded to the robbers by the lower orders of the up-country population, low- grog-shop keepers, ostlers, pedlars, and some others of a grade who ought to be above suspicion.— Australian and A ew Zealand Gazette. MEAT BY RAILWAY.- We gave recently a descri;.tio» ofa new patent railway car, called the 'Lyman Rein- gerating Cat, constructed for the purpose of transporting slaughtered beef and other meats long distances in ail kinds of weather, and preserving the same fresh and pure as when ifrst killed. The first of these cars arrived at Hoboken yesterday from Ohio, laden with dressed carcasses of lo steers and 113 boeep-all as fresh, pure, and sweet a. on the day they were killed. They came, by waj of Ptttsburg, Harrisburg, and the Morris and Essex Railroad, and were tour days on the passage. The- ice in the car, of which about one ton is required, had to be renewed only once during the trip, and the tem- perature remained, with slight variation, during tile whole distance at 45 deg. Famenbei^, The ccEsrRs. tion of the car is such that a current of air passes con- stantly through the masses of ice at either end, and thence through the body of the car containing the meat. The humidity of the atmosphere is condensed by the ice and at the same time cleansed from all impurit ej, EOtL.il when it comes in contact with the meat it is dry, culd" and pure, thus securing the three essential iccuisites for the preservation of meat. Large numbers of people visited the car at Hoboken yesterday, and the opinion was unanimous that the invention had proved itself u success.—JSeiv Joris Times, Aug. 22.
