At the Clarkehwell Police-court, on Monday, Eliza- beth Nash, aged 13, of 25, C Block, Peabody's-build- ings, Dufferin-street, St. Luke's, was charged with attempting to commit suicide by throwing herself from a window at the above address. It was shown that about three weeks ago the girl was looking through a window in one of the fifth-story rooms of the above-named buildings, when, according to her own account, she was seized with an uncontrollable desire to throw herself down. She did so and fell 50ft., upon the pavement, and was picked up by some passers by. She was taken to St. Bartholomew's Hospital, where, strange to say, it was found that none of her limbs were broken. She hardly com- plained of being hurt, except that her left hip was bruised. The prisoner now said she was very sorry, and she had no desire to commit suicide. A dizzy feeling came Gver her while she was looking out of the window at the pavement, and she threw herself down. Mr. Hosack discharged her, but advised that she should be taken back to the hospital, as it might be found Jthat she had sustained some internal injury.
