THE LADIES BATHING MACHINES.
THE LADIES BATHING MACHINES. Sir,—May I ask through the medium of your welt- known paper if it would not be possible to arrange the ladies' bathing machines so that visitors to yoiitr beautiful watering place might meet with a little civility and attention? As things are at present one: has to put up with anything she can manage to get, and that is almost nothing, except being asked to pay before even getting a van. As to towels, they are at a premium, it being almost impossible to get, even one, [èTl that often wet. Then, again, the get- ting your van taken to the water's edge seems out of the question as horse and boy, whose work one would, suppose it to be, have evidently been engaged for* ornament. Now if I might venture a suggestion, it would be that whoever has the regulating of these things would enforce the rule that each of the several owners be made to run their machines on their own account, and not ha ve one purse, dividing the pro- fits, as is the case at present. If this were carried out I think there would be a healthy competition, and visitors like ourselves, who come to enjoy your good. bathing for several weeks in the summer would meet with that attention and civility which is so conspicu- ously absent here as compared with other watering places, or even (from what our gentlemen friends tell, us) they receive at their end. Yours faithfully, A DISGUSTED VISITOR.
CRICKET.
CRICKET. On Saturday, the 2nd, a match was played between the Ceredigion C.C. and the Visitors, when the former won by 19 runs, the totals being 70 and 51. On Saturday, the 9th, another match was played between the Visitors and the Club, when the latter again won by 95 runs to 42.
ABERAYRON JOTTINGS.
ABERAYRON JOTTINGS. The glorious weather of the past fortnight haa been the means of filling this highly salubrious water- ing-place with visitors. The town is crowded, and great difficulty is exijerienced just now in getting- lodgings. The quay presents a most animated appearance. Hundreds indulge in a dip in the briny daily, and the boatmen are having a busy time of it. The two tramcars which run across the harbour on wires, come in for considerable patronage, being en- gaged throughout the entire day. The Chalybeate pump house and grounds are much resorted to by the visitors and large numbers have derived very great benent from drinking the water. We think the pro- prietors might make the grounds much more attrac- tive by catering more for the amusement of the visitors. On Saturday last a large shoal of porpoises were observed in the bay extending from New Quay hea-d- until opposite Aberayron, and their movements were watched by hundreds of visitors with much interest and amusement. Mr Griffith Evans, Crown House, Market-street, was on Wednesday appointed by an unanimous vote of the guardians, master of the AJjerayron union workhouse, and Mrs Evans (his wife) as matron. There were eleven candidates for the office. We think they have made a wise choice, and that Mr Evans will justify his appointment. Very interesting and entertaining competitive meetings have been held by the visitors during tha past fortnight on the Pump House grounds.
HOW MANY PEOPLE SUFFER.
HOW MANY PEOPLE SUFFER. It is often remarked how many more people than formerly complain of feeling unwell. It is not that there is a greater amount of contagious diseases afloat, for there is proof' that the extent and strength of such are far less than of yore, because of better sanitary arrangements and greater attention to cleanliness and other matters. The enormous prevalence cannot be doubted of pains in the back, side, and chest; ener- vated and languid feelings; loss of energy distress and fulness of the stomach, with often a sense of deadly faintness at its pit, which eating does not stay; sick-headache, so-called biliousness; unpleasant breath; a sense of wei-riness when ris- ing in the morning, with an unpleasant taste in the mouth, and loss of appetite, or non-enjoyment of food. These are but the mildest effects of feeling unwell," and yet how great is the distress and suffering, with hindrance to business and plea- sure, they give ri-e to. The cause is not far to week; it lies in the stomach and digestive organs, which have become impaired to the distress of nearly all the other function* of the body. Assuredly could the stomach always be kept in well-regulated condition through life, it would tend to far grea'er longevity than is now the case. The stomach i< a wheel within wheelg, and just as an erratic tendency on the part of a small but still important wheel of a clock leads to the disarrangement at its whole f nction as a time-keeper, so dois the failure of so important a wheel as the digestive organs in the mechanism of the hum In frtme throw, by their impaired vigour ur inaction, all the parts depending on them-and they are legion—out of gear. Ju-t as the wheel of the clock will require to be adjusted that accurate time may be kept, so must the impaired organs of the stomach be restored to their original vigour. Digestion rpusi be promoted by increasing the flow and strength of the gastric juice, and this "Seigel's Curative Syrup" will effectu- ally do. It will impart strength to the stomach, invigorate the liver and imuart tone to the bowels, to the greater enjoyment of life and health of all who use it; and that it so may be tessed by a perusal of the Testimonials in an Almanac, which will be furnished free of charge to any applicant by the Pro- prietors A. J. White (Limited), 17, Parringdon Road, London,. E.O. The syrap can he obtainedfrom any chemist or medcina endor.
