PROSPECTUS. 1.—This Company has been formed for the purpose of importing and dealing in Grain, Potatoes, Agri- cultural Seeds, Petroleum, and other Prodaae, and Merchandize, and Live Stools, at Aberdovey, and of°ex- porting thence Coal and General Home Pro ince. 2.-The Shipping Port of Aberdovey, situated in the centre of Cardigan Bay, is admitted to be the best Port on the Wesu Coast between Milford Haven and Holyhead. It possesses all the natural advantages necessary for the convenient importation and exportation of Foreign and Home Produce of every description, and its capacity for such purposes ha.s recently been satisfactorily tested by the safe arrival and despatch of Stea.mers of over 600 Tons Register, and the expeditious discharge of their Cargoes weighing from S00 to 1000 Tons. It has the great additional advantage over most other Ports of the absence of heavy charges for Harbour and Dock Dues, Lights, Storage, <fc; and of the low rate of Pilotage. 3.—The Railway tacilities at Aberdovey are amply sufficient for a large Shipping Trade. The lines of the Cambrian Railways Company are in direct communication with the Port, and a new Pier, with ritils and tnrn-table, has recently been constructed, on which waggons can be run alongside Vessels when loading or discharging, and that Company are now erecting Storage accommodation. The Cambrian Railways and their connections afford direct and expeditions communication with all parts of the country, and run through a large District in which competition by other Ports with Aberdovey could not be maintained. The Cambrian Company have consented to make favourable arrangements for all traffic carried from and ta the Port, in d the Board has been joined by Mr Humphreys-Owen, a Director of the Cambrian Railways. 4.—The objects of the Company will at first be carried out by the Purchase and Sale of Indian Corn, Wheat, Beans, Petroleum, and other Home and Foreign Produce, and by such othur means as may from time to time be found desirable, including, if necessary, the conversion of Indian Corn into Meal, the pur- chase and erection of Machinery for that purpose, the chartering of Vessels for the conveyance of Cargoes to and from Aberdovey, aud the purchase or hire, and working of Steam or Sailing Ships. 5.-Proposals have been entertained by Coal Owners in South Wales for the grant of advantageous terms for establibhing a Coal Trade with Ports on the South-east Coast of Ireland and elsewhere, and suitable Rates have been agreed upon by the Railway Companies owning the Lines over which the Coal would pass. 6.—It has been ascertained, from the result of similar business done at Liverpool and other Ports, and from the quantity of Produce intended to be dealt in which is now brought into the district over which the Company's operations will extend, that taking the rate of profit at a very moderate figure, a large return can at once be obtained upon the amount of Capital with which it is proposed to commence business, and that without taking into account the advantages arising from the low expense of importation at Aberdovey, referred to in paragraph 2. » 7.—The Directors, many of whom have had much practical experience in the Grain and Produce Trades have every confidence in recommending this Uudertaking, and believe that the operations of the Company will not only be immediately successful, but that they will lay the foundation of a sound and extended busi- ness, in which the whole of the Company's Capital may at no distant date be brought into profitable em- ployment. 8.—The Capital of the Company has been fixed at £50,000, of which not more than -220,000 will now be issued. Of this latter sum it is not intended to call up more t4an one-half in the first instance, but as the business increases further Calls will be made and additional Shares issued. Applications for Shares to the amount of upwards of J25.000 have already been received. 9.—No Contracts have been entered into on behalf of the Company, and no Promotiou-money his been cr will be paid. 10.—Copies of the Prospectus and Memorandum of Association, with Form of Application for Shares, can be obtained from the Secretary. Early application lor Sharea is requested, to enable the Company to commence operations during the pr.-sent season. COUNTY OF CARDIGAN. TO BUILDERS.
