RALLY OF CHRISTIAN ENDEAVOURERS The report of the second annual C.E. Rally held at Prestatyn on Bank Holiday, was crowded out of last week's issue. The gatherings commenced with a praise service on the shore, conducted by Mr E. Pitchford (ex-President of the Lancashire and Cheshire Federation). Mr Kendall, of Manchester, read a portion of Scripture, and the following ren- n dered solos :-Mr Hill, St. Thomas' Wigan Church of England C.E. Society, On Business for my King" Miss Flitcroft (Bolton) sang" Sweet Peace—Wonderful Gift of God's Love," and Miss Porter, also of Bolton, Oh, Love that will not let me go." A public meeting in furtherance of the C.E. movement was presided over by Dr Townsend, and able and earnest addresses were delivered by Pastor Page, of Saltney, and Rev. J. J. Hargreaves, President of the Chester C.E. Union. In the afternoon a meeting was held on the hillside near Greymount, at which Mr Councillor Wright presided, and addresses were delivered by Mr H. Crease, Secretary of the Wrexham C.E. Union, and Rev. E. Abbott, President of the British National C.E. Union. These gatherings are held with the object of stimulating an interest in Christian Endeavour among the Churches in North Walen, the motto of the Society being For Christ and the Church." On Tuesday a number of the Endeavourers visited Dyserth, and after partaking of an excellent tea, provided by Mrs Rogers, Greenfield Cottage, ascended Ochr-y-foel, and enjoyed very much the entrancing beauty of the Yale of Clwyd.

Coaching Accident. Last week-end a coaching party from Rhyl met with an accident at Pensarn, when returning from Llandudno. When a little way past the Cambrian Hotel the axle of the coach broke, and the horses taking fright attempted to bolt, one of them b'dug drawn under the vehicie. Of the fourteen passengers ou the coach not one was seriously injured fortunately, and after aid had been rendered by a doctor and several visitors, the party was conveyed home in other vehicles.

Motor Car for the Bishop. About £600 has been received for a fund being raised to present the Bishop of St. Asaph with a motor car, "and thus render his lordship independent of trains andhorses." Mr A. Wynne Corrie, of Oswestry, has been one of the prime movers in raising the fund, which is shortly to be closed, and a meeting is to be held at Chester on Monday to decide on details as to the presentation The sub- scriptions have varied from half-a-crown to £100.

Gronant. Dog as Prize-winner. At the Flint and Denbigh Agricultural Society's Show held on Thursday at Rhyl, Mr Wm. Evans (Freelands) exhibited his fox terrier "TalacreLassie" and was awarded three prizes-two "reserves" and a "special."

Concert. A very enjoyable time was spent at the Schools on Tuesday evening by a large audience, the occasion being an entertainment arranged for the purpose of assisting a fund for the enlarging of the Vicarage. Rev. D. Griffiths (Vicar) presided, and a lengthy pro- gramme was contributed to by Misses M. Griffith, Miss D. Roberts, Miss N. Roberts, Miss M. Pascall, Miss amethurst, and Misses Fuller; Messrs T. H. Jones, — Darlington, and Ridgeway Kermode and Master C. Williams. The accompauists were Miss Williams, Miss Pascall, and Mr Owen. The frequent encores was ample proof of the acceptability with which the artistes acquitted themselves, all the items being received with unstinted applause. Almost all the artistes were visitors to the neighbourhood, so that the programme sub- mitted was entirely new to the audience. The entertainment concluded with a very laughable sketch entitled The Black Schoolmaster," performed by Mr W. Roberts and party.

Service of Song. After the English service on Sunday even- ing, there is to be a service of song at the Parish Church, the artistes who will take part being several of those who so successfully con- tributed to the concert programme on Tues- day evening.

List of Visitors. The fact that we do not this week publish a list of visitors does not mean that there are no visitors in Dyserth. The usual source from which we procure our list has failed us, but we hope to resume publishing it next week.

Cycling Accident. A young lady cyclist had a narrow escape at Penisa on Saturday last. As she was riding down the hill close by Dyserth Hall, from the direction of Meliden, the brake failed to act, with the result that she lost control of her machine, and was thrown to the ground. Her injuries were fortunately not very serious, and after been attended to, she was able to resume her journey homeward.

Sunday School Trip. The members of the Welsh Wesleyan Sunday School had their annual trip on Tues- day last to Llandudno. A special motor train conveyed over 100 children and adults to Prestatyn at 9 o'clock, to meet the excur- sion train from Chester. Fine weather pre- vailed at the seaside resort, and everyone enjoyed themselves to the utmost. After a delightful day, the party reached home at 8-30.

A Reminder. The arrangements for the bazaar to be held at the schools on Tuesday are now complete, and every effort is being put forth to make It a success.

Church Sunday School. The Parish Church Sunday School had their annual trip for adults on Tuesday. Chester was the selected place for this year, but the excursion was not as largely partici- pated in as on former occasions. However, those who did go enjoyed themselves immensely in the ancient city and its vicinity.

Rev. K. Lewis Mills of Seaforth will preach next Sunday, morning and evening, at the Ochr-y-foel English Con- a gregational Church.

False Representation. James Keogh. a farm labourer from Rhuddlan, was fined 1/- and 8/- costs at Prestatyn Sessions on Wednesday, for obtain- ing drink on a Sunday at the New Inn, Dyserth, by falsely representing himself a bona fide traveller. He had represented that he had slept at St. Asaph on the previous evening, whereas P.C. Wm. Jones found that he had slept within two miles of the inn, and the magistrates pointed out to defendant that the seriousness of his offence lay in the fact that lie placed the licence-holder in an awk- ward position.

No Light. Frederick Edwards of Chapel house. Cwm, was riding his bicycle in the direction of Meliden at 9-50 p.m. without a liglit on the 18th July. P.C. Wm. Jonos charged him with the offence at Wednesday's Sessions, and he was fined 2/6, the costs being remmitted.

Fire on a Stock Train. On Wednesday, while a special train from Wrexham was conveying stock belonging to Mr Frank Lloyd to Rhyl for the Agricultural show, several of the trucks were found to be on fire. The outbreak occurred near Holywell, and proved to be of a very serious character, so much so that twelve valuable sheep had to be slaughtered. Also a prize bull was badly scorched. The latter was brought on to Rhyl, with the partially demolished trucks and placed in the Alexandra stables. The train was run into a siding at Rhyl, the incid- ent causing considerable commotion among the officials of the show yard.

School Excursion. The Sunday Scholars of Peniel (Wes- leyan) Penyffordd, visited Denbigit on Wed- nesday, on the occasion of their annual treat. Leaving the chapel at 10 a.m., and accom- panied by many non-members, they took the top road for Denbigh in brakes. The weather throughout the day was very fine. t,

C.W.S. Tea and Sports. The annual tea and sports of the above society were held on Wednesday. Tea was first supplied to the member's children free of charge, and the adults sat down to tea when the youngsters had finished. During tea the Ffynnongroew Brass Band played a few selections. Those who waited at the tables included Misses J. Williams, Mary Hughes. Kitty Jones, Annie Jones, Annie Owens, Annie Jones (Chapel Row), Susanah Jones, Jane Heritage, Susanah Heritage, Sarah Williams, Mary Vernon, Dorothy Blythin, and Henrietta Williams, Mrs W. Spencer. Mrs A. Dennis, Mrs Williams (Min- y-don), Mrs Spencer. Mrs Williams (Shell Cottage), and Mrs Jones (Chapel House). After doing justice to an admirable tea the members, headed by the band, marched to Mr Davies' (Llinegar) field for their sports. Here the band played again, and athletic sports were engaged in. An enjoyable time was spent.

Boys' Brigade. The 1st Burslem and 1st Stoke-on-Trent Companies camped August 1st to 8th atTyn- y-Morfa Farm. On Sunday church parade was held at the Ffynnongroew Wesleyan Church, and Wednesday saw all the camp oft' to Rhyl for the day. On Thursday afternoon sports were held, in which great interest was evinced by the boys and visitors. Atter the sports a special tea was provided for the boys by Marshal Stoker, Esq., president of the Stoke Company. On Friday evening a con- cert was given, the various items being pro- vided by the boys and visitors to the district. Following the concert was a supper, given by Lieut. Stoker to the officers and friends, when above twenty sat down to an excellent repast. After a very hearty vote of thanks to Lieut. Stoker, to which he ably responded, a pres- entation was made to Mr and Mrs E. Jones for their kindness in granting the site for the camp, and for their interest and support in its working. Early on Saturday morning camp was struck, bringing to a termination a most successful and enjoyable holiday.

Neighbours Quarrel. At Prestatyn on Wednesday an unpleasant state of affairs among neighbours came to light when William Thomas, 3 Owens terrace, Penyffordd, preferred a charge of assault and battery against Mrs Esther Roberts, his next door neighbour. The complainant made a long statement, the gist of which was that as a result of his remonstrating with defendant for using bad language she attempted to strike him with an empty jar, and also with a poker. With such violence did she use the latter that it was bent in coming into contact with the railings when the hlow missed his head. Later on Mrs Roberts hit Thomas in his face with her boot, and then picked up a large boulder and struck him on his arm. To prove the latter allegation Thomas shewed the magistrates a wound on his arm, and also produced blood-stained clothing. Other instances of persecution were alleged against defendant, who stated she had acted in self- defence, and stated that complainant had struck her with a stick and also with a stone. The magistrates considered this a most disgraceful state of affairs, and appealed to Mrs Roberts to live more peacefully with her neighbours in future. She was fined 5/- with 11/6 costs, and also bound over to keep the peace for six months, her husband being surety in the sum of £ 5.

On Saturday last the scholars and teachers of Llanasa, Newmarket, and Gwaenysgor Sunday Schools, were invited to a garden party at Golden Grove (kindly given by Mrs and Messrs Mortimer). Tea was provided on the lawn in front of the hall, after which races, games, etc., were indulged in, and there was a grand display of fireworks. The Gwespyr Brass Band was in atten- dance. Prizes were given to each scholar before leaving. At the close, Rev. W. L. Prothero proposed a vote of thanks to Mrs and Messrs Mortimer for their generosity, and also to the ladies who had assisted in making the tea. This was seconded by Mi- Batters, and carried with hearty cheers.

August 26tli.—Garden and Agricultural Show, Downing Park. Filling Up the Cup. On Monday while a number of sheep were being driven along the road between Ffynnon- groew and Mustyn, a motor car overtook them, and one of the sheep got under the wheels. Its injuries were such that slaughter- ing was an immediate necessity. This accident, though trivial in itself, illustrates the want of care exhibited by many motorists on our pubic roads. Drastic legislation will be demanded in the near future. English Congregational Church. The preacher at this church next Sunday

Gwaenysgor. A Charge Withdrawn. At the Prestatyn Sessions on Wednesday a case had been set down for hearing in which David Lewis, Bryn Eglwys, Gwaenysgor, charged Edward Parry, Church Terrace, Meliden, with assault and battery. Mr Gasquoine, on behalf of complainant, asked permission to withdraw the ease, the parties having come to an agreement by which defendant paid all costs incurred. After some demur, the Bench consented to the with- drawal.

Good News. News from an official source has been received that a London company, with a capital of £66,000, intends shortly to erect Cement Works on the land adjoining the Castle Quarry. The stone, clay, etc.. to be found here is of the highest quality. The directors of the company are to visit the spot shortly.
