The Best Housekeeper ..
The Best Housekeeper is not she who spends the whole day slaving in the house, '-doing the.work. she terms it—muddling is the correct expression. A woman- with method gets through her ith r) domestic duties, even without, the aid of a servant, by mid-day, or sooa after, and is ready to take a, walk, make- a call or two, or rest comfortably with a book or her needle- work. Her house is tidy, and she is always neatly and consistently dressed. Meals are prepared tastefully and economically, and are always punctually served. Although no one enjoys a pleasant chat more than she dots, she avoids anything like idle gossip, and no one can tempt her to waste the early morning hours in talking over her neighbour's affairs. A good housekeeper, also, avoids debt. She, insists upon paying for everything as she gets it, and sees that she gets good value for her money.
To Clean Much Soiled Hands.
To Clean Much Soiled Hands. Do not go to work with brush ■ and- soda "water but loosen the dirt by rubbing the. hands well with sweet oil, or even lard or. dripping. Then wipepff tpe'gre:Ùe..as.plueh as possible with a piece of soft paper or old rag, and wash the hands with warm water and soap. They will soon be clean whe-n" treated thus, and without .damaging the skin. For varnish stains use methylated spirit before applying soap and water.
Pudding Cloths.
Pudding Cloths. Immediately pudding cloths have been used scald them, wash them thoroughly, using soda but no soap, and hang them: up to dry. Let them air well'before they are put away, or they will have a nasty odour when next used.
To Clean Chamois Leather.
To Clean Chamois Leather. People often regard dirty polishing leathers as hopelessly spoiled, but they may be easily washed in warm soapsuds. Renew the suds when dirty, and finally wring and hang the leather out to dry, pulling it with the hands occasionally during the process to rub it soft. The soap left in the leather will prevent it hardening as it would do if it were rinsed in clear water.
A Strip of Carpet
A Strip of Carpet glued to a piece of wood will remove mud frontboots very quickly, and without the slightest injury to the leather, and is much better than. the usual brush.
Paint Stains
Paint Stains may be removed with turpentine, tar-stains with lard. Pour boiling water from a height r, upon tea-stains. Wash iodine-stains with ammonia and water until the spots disappear.
If the Inli Bottle
If the Inli Bottle happens to be overturned upon household linen, lose no time in placing ,a blotter beneath the stain-* to. soak up^as much as possible, and press- another from above. Then immerse the article in a deep vessel containing sweet milk. Wash well with soap and bleach in the sun.
Useful in the .Kitchen.
Useful in the Kitchen. Borax is a very useful- thing in the kitchen. Add a little to the water when boiling out enamelled saucepans, and; it will help to cleanse them. If added to the water dishcloths are washed in, it will help to keep them a nice colour.
Moths in the Carpet.
Moths in the Carpet. These can be killed by spreading a cloth wrung out of water on the infected places and then ironing with a hot iron. Don't press hard enough to injure the pile. It is the steam that kills the moth, not the pressure.

There was almost a full attendance of members. The secretary's report and balance ;heet of the Boxing Day competition was jassed, the latter shewing a surplus to be Qanded over to the club. Mr J. P. Linnell handed in his resignation Df the post of Hon. Secretary, and after a lengthy debate the same was accepted. Mr Wm. Glass was elected to fill the vacancy. On Saturday next Prestatyn will journey to Conway to playoff the 4th round of the North Wales Junior Cup. The team will be selected from the following players Wm. Glass, J. T. Williams, Pryce Jones, Jack Jones, W. Bell Jones, Tom Brooks, E. Hol- brook, L. Watts, G. Glass, E. Mostyn, W. R. Jones, and J. Griffiths. The players will leave by the 12-12 train. Cheap tickets will be issued at 2/- return, and anyone wishing to accompany the team should book their tickets before 11 o'clock on Saturday morning from either of the follow- ing Messrs' W. A drawn game would suit the Prestatyn Club as just now they are short of matches.
ELECTION 80 YEARS AGO.
ELECTION 80 YEARS AGO. How to get Votes. During the time of a contested election in the county of Meatli (Ireland), some eighty years ago, Sir Mark Somerville sent orders to the hotel-keeper or inn-keeper in the town of Trim to board and lodge all who would vote for him, for which service lie received the following bill. He regarded it as such a curiosity that he had it framed and hung in Somerville House, where it still remains. My bill, your Honour, 16th April, 1826. 2 s. d. To eating sixteen free-holders above stairs for six marks at 3s. 6d. a head is to me 2 12 0 To eating sixteen more below stairs an 1 two priests after supper is to me. 2 15 9 To six beds in one room and four in another at two guineas every bed 0 and not more than four in any bed at a time is to me 22 15 0 To eight horses and five mules about my yard all night at 13s. every one of them, and for a man which was lost on head of watch- ing them all night is to me. 5 5 0 For breakfast on tay in the morn- ing for every one of them, and as many more as they brought, as near as I can guess is to me 4 12 0 To raw whiskey and punch, with- out talking of pipes and tobacco, as well as, for porter and as well as for breakfasting, a pot above scairs and other glasses and delft, for the first day and night. I am not sure, but for the three days and a half of the election, v: as little as I can call it, and not to be very exact, it is in all, or thereabouts, as near as I can guess, and not to be too par- ticular, is to me at least. 79 15 9 For shaving and cropping off the heads of the free-holders for Sir Marks, at 13d. for every head of them, to my brother, who has a vote, is to me 2 13 1 To vomit and nurse for poor Tom Kernan in the middle of the night, when he was not expec- ted, is to me ten hogs. I don't talk of the piper, or for keeping him sober, as long as he was sober, is to me. 40 10 0 The total, £110 7/6, you may say 111 0 0 So you know, Sir Mark, send me this eleven hundred by Bryan himself, who and I prays for your success always in Trim, and no more at present. Signed in the place of Jemmy Carr's Wife, His Bryan (x) Garraty. Mark. COURTENAY MOORE. Printed and Published by J. T. BURROWS, High-st.,Prestatyn, in the County of Flint.
