Rhewl Fawr.
Rhewl Fawr. GWYNFA C.M. CHAPEL A correspondent writes :— On Sunday last the pulpit of Gwynfa, the recently erected chapel belonging to the Cal- vinistie Methodists of Rhewl Fawr and vicinity was filled, in the literal and deeper sense of the word, by the Rev J. Myrddin Thomas of Prestatyn, who is undoubtedly a prominent preacher among the Congregationalists of Wales. The venerable gentleman, during his ministry of 80 years in Mold occupied a very important position in the County and in tho whole of North Wales, and was in frequent demand at annual meetings, etc. His sojourn of a few years in South Wales how- ever has had the effect of withholding him from the eyes of the public of these parts for a time, and younger and more pushful though much less weighty men have come to the front. The friends at Gwynfa, having been edified by the lofty themes brought before them by Mr Thomas, and his cultured and poetical manner of dealing with them, the chaste language in which they were clothed, and the fervent and enthusiastic spirit in which they were delivered, are very proud of having dis- covered — or rather re-discovered — a true preacher, a type which is unfortunately not very general these days. At the close of the service, Mr Pownall and Mr Thomas Roberts expressed their deep appreciation of Mr Thomas* services during the day, and a hope that be would promise to come amongst them again very soon. After tho evening service Mr Thomas recited a number of englynion, which will be found subjoined. GWYNFA. Capel y Methodistiad Calfinaidd yn Rhewl Fawr, Ffynnongroew. THE MARINE ROAD QUESTION.
THE MARINE ROAD QUESTION. To the Editor of the Prestatyn Weekly." Dear Sir. I notice by a report of the Prestatyn Urban Council Meeting in the 25ult issue of your paper, that the question of the repairs of the Marine Road was considered. From the remarks of some of the Councillors it was evident that they were of the opinion that the Marine Road was not an "adopted road." As an owner of property adjacent to Marine Road, I beg to differ from the opinion thus expressed. I may mention that the late Mr Hunt and myself gave evidence before the St. Asaph Highway Board, some years ago, which culminated in that authority putting a sewer in the road in question, also grids, manholes, etc., and repairing the same up to time of the formation of the Prestatyn Council, which then assumed jurisdiction over the local roads. In my opinion this constituted the act of taking over the road, and, if that is correct, obviously the Council are not in a position to dictate terms to the property owners con- cerned.-Yours faithfully, F. J. SMITH (late of Prestatyn). 12, Oxford Road, Banbury, Dec. 16th, 1905.

Gronant. S — P1 HANES YR y ACHOSION CREFYDDOL. y a ( Par had o'r wythnos ddiueddaf). T a Yr oedd Hugh Williams yn ddyn cydwy- bodol, yn arweinydd diogel, ac yn meddu 1 dylanwad mawr yn yr ardal. Ba farw mewn b oedran teg wedi bod gyda'r achos ar hyd cyfnod yr Vsgubor, a rhyw dair blynedd yn y Capel cyntaf; a phery ei goffadwriaeth yn 11 0 fendigedig yn y gymydogaeth hyd heddy-w. Am Peter Owens, byr fu ei ddiwrnod ef, galwyd arno i noswylio yn gynar, yn 1846, pan nad oedd ond 37 oed. Ond yn ei ddiwrnod byr gwnaeth fwy o waith dros ei Feistr nag a wneir gan lawer gwas da mewn ddiwrnod liir. \Vrth glywed am ei ffyddlon- deb gyda'r achos, a gweled 61 ei law ynglyn r-- y a gwahanol ranau y gwaith y mae geiriau Bailey yndod i'n meddwl— IVe live in deeds not in years. a geiriau Fuller- He lives long that lives well." Goroesodd David Jones ei ddau gydswyddog ychydig flynyddoedd, ac hwyrach fod hyny yn cyfrif am y ffaith y ceir cyfeiriadau amlach at ei enw ef na'r lleill, yn gystal a'i fod yn ddyn o dduwioldeb diamheuol, yn naturiol ddewr, ac o deimladau cryfion a chynbyrfus. Y mae yn debyg mai nodwedd ei dymher sydd yn esbonio y byddai yn niwedd ei oes ar adegau mewn iselder meddwl, yn ofni y byddai yn golledig; er nad oedd neb o'i gydnabod yn ameu ei greffyud. Efe oedd blaenor y gan hefyd, er nad ymddengys ei fod vn gerddor mawr, oherwydd dywedir y byddai yn myned yn stop yn ddigun ami gyda'r canu y pryd hwnw, ond byddai gan David Jones ddigon o hnnanfeddiant i ddal ati nes cyrhaedd y pen. Dyna ddywedai ar ol methu ddwywaith neu dair— Mi wna i iddi hi ddwad," a dwad fyddai raid iddi hi. Mr John Proffit; 1855-1876, Mr Thomas "Williams 1875—1904, Mr Pedr Thomas. Yr oedd Mr William Thomas, yr arweinydd presonol yn cynorthwyo Mr Pedr Thomas ers llawer o flynyddoedd a bu Mri John ac Edwin Anwyl yn gynorthwywyr neu ail ddech- reuwyr" hefyd yn eu hamser. Gallesid meddwl oddiwrth y ffuith fod yr eglwys wedi cartrefn am gynifer ac ugain o flynyddoedd yn yr Ysgubor, mai parhau yn isel a dilewyrch yr oedd yr achos ond nid dyna y gwir, eithr yn hytrach yr oedd yr eglwys wedi cynyddu i GO o gyflawnaelodau, a gwedd flodeuog aT bob rhan o'r gwaith yr Ysgol Sabbuthol yn caei ei mynychu gan oddeutu 140 ar gyfartaledd, ac oddentu 200 ar y llyfrau. Nitl oedd dirwest ehwaith yn cael ei adael yn ddisylw. Yr oedd yma amryw yn derbyn "Y Cymedrolwr," cylchgrawu misol dirwes- tol, dwy geinog y rhifyn, gyhoeddid gan Mr Thomas Gee o dan olygiad y Parch Owen Jones, Wyddgrag. Hefyd, cafodd Y Cerbyd Dirwestol dderbyniad yma. ar ei ymddan- gosiad cyntaf yn 1888. Misolyn oedd hwn, a gyhoeddid dan nawdd Cymdeithas Ddir- westol Swydd Celt." Cawn item hefyd yn nghyfrifon 1841, sydd yn dangos eu bod mewn eydymdeimlad a dirwest, sef: "Talwyd at gost cyfraith y dirwestwyr 4/2-J." Nis gwyddom ddim am y gyfraith y cyfeirir ati, ond y mae eu gwaith yn cyfranu at yr achos, er mai bechan oedd y rhodd yn dangos fod gan ddirwest ei phleidwyr yn Gronant yr adeg hono: ac y mae rhyw rai wedi bod yn sefyll yn gadarn dros yr un achos o hyny hyd yn ( awr. Y rheswm fod eglwys mor lewyrchus yn parhau mor hir yn yr Ysgubor oedd eu bod yu methu cael tir i adeiladu capel arno ond yr oedd ganddynt ffydd y caent; fely dengys y dyfyniadau canlynol o gyfrif y casgliad at adeiladu y capel:— Received from William Morris £1 "I. What he collected few years back in Liverpool and Manchester." Received from David Jones this sum X2 10/- what was collected few years back towards building the chapel." (I'w bat-hati.)

ANOTHER FIRE.
ANOTHER FIRE. Early on Monday morning Mr Lloyd, of Silverdale, Prcstatyn, found that the weather- board near the roof outside Mr Scott's resi- dence in Victoria Avenue was on fire. He immediately informed Mr Scott, and some of Mr Thos. Jones* workmen were brought on the scene. They procured a hose from the fire station, and were able to get a good supply of water from the main, the fire being put out before any serious damage was done. It was not found necessary to summon the brigade. The outbreak is thought to have been caused through the chimney getting on fire, sparks from which dropped on the weather- board, and thus set it ablaze.

UNIONIST MEETING AT MOSTYN.
UNIONIST MEETING AT MOSTYN. Tribute to Mr Herbert Lewis. Lord Mostyn presided on Thursday evening at Mostyn over a meeting in support of Mr Harold Edwards, the Unionist candidate. He expressed a hope that in amending the Education Act an effort would be made to do justice to all parties. If the Liberal party were returned he hoped it would be by a good majority if not, they would be at the mercy of the Home Rule party. Their candidate (Mr Edwards) was a courageous champion. He had an uphill fight, but at any rate he had to fight a gentleman who they all esteemed, and who was a personal friend of many present. Mr Herbert Lewis was a model member of Parliament, and he only wished he was on their side, but as he was on the opposite side, on principle they had to fight him.
