Camvyllau yn goleuo am gyfnodau byrion yn ardal Gronant, ac yna yn diffocldi; fu y personau y cyfeiriwyd atynt uchod ac y mae genym i gyfcirio at un person arall fu yn ceisio sefydlu Ysgol Sabbothol am gyfnod byr, cyn son am y tan Metbodistaidd ddechreuodd gyneu tua'r flwyddyn 1817 ac sydd yn parhau i gyneu hyd heddyw. Y person hwnw oedd William Jones o Prestatyn. Y mae yma rai yn fyw sydd yn cofio William Jones y gwehydd, yn dyfod i Ronaiit i gynorthwyo gyda'r achos; ond yn ol Methodistiaeth Cymru, bu ef yn dyfod yma am gyfnod byr, flynyddoedd cyn geni neb o drigolion presenol Gronant; er fod yma amrhyw sydd wedi gweled liir ddyddau"; yr hyn s ydd n dweyd yn dda am iachusrwydd yr ardal. Y mae yma draddodiad am un digwyddia.d hynod ynglyn a William Jones yn y cyfnod hwnw. Byddai yn gwneyd ymdrech mawr i gael gan y bobl ddyfod i'r ysgol yn lie myned i'r Tywyn i'r campau; ac ar ol methu perswadio un i ddyfod, dywedodd wrtho— gwylia rhag i ti gael tori dy goes yn y ras gyutaf: ac felly y bu torodd ei goes yn y rhedegfa cyntaf; a bu y digwyddiad o gryn fantais i ddylanwad William Jones. Y peth diweddaf a glywsom am William Jones oedd ei fod yn bresenol yn Ngronant yn iighyfarfo 1 agor y capol cyntaf, pan yr oedd yr enwog H nry Rees gyd ag eraill yn gwasanaofchu. Yr ydym yn cael mai un o honynt oedd Hugh Williams a'i wraig. Daethynt i'r ardal yn yr adeg dan sylw. Broclorion oeddynt y naill o Galltmelyd a'r Hall o Caerhun. Yt oedd Hugh Williams yn daid i Mr T. Pennant Williams, Prestatyn. Bu ef yn flaenor yr Egiwys a dau fab iddo ar ei ol, Mr r Williams a Mr Thomas Williams, ac yr oedd disgwyliad mawr yn mlith y frawdoliaeth bresenol y hiasai rhagluniaeth yn trefnu i Mr Peunaut Williams fwrw ei goelbren yn en plith. Oddeutu yr un amser befyd y daeth Dafydd Jones i fyw i Ty'n'rafon o Carmel ger Treffynon. Llanwodd ef le mawr ynglyn a'r achos yn Gronant. Nid oes neb o'i ddis- gynyddion yn y parthau hyn yn awr. Teulu arall symydodd yma tua'r un amser oedd John Williams ai wraig. Un o Llan- fawr oedd John Williams a'i briod o Llanecil ger y Bata. Dattbant i fyw i dy a elwid Pen y mynydd. lie sydd wedi myned i lawr ers blvnyddoedd. Yr oedd y ty hwnw wedi ei adeiladn ar y te rfyn rhwng plwyf Llanasa a phlwyf Gallt- melyd, a phan y byddent yn cerdded terfynau y plwyfi, byddai rhyw rhai yn myned dros ei do. Dywedir fod Syr Pyers Mostyn, y Barwnig presenol, wedi bod yn cael ei godi dros dy Pen y Mynydd pan ynfachgen. En John Williams yn selog gyda'r achos yn ei ddydd, ac y mae rhai o'i deulu yn aros yn yr ardal eto, oherwydd wyres iddo ef oedd diweddar briod Mr William Thomas un o'r blaenoriad presenol. Rhyl Victoria v. Prestatyn. NORTH Wale. COAST Junior League. Great interest was created by the meeting of these two teams in the return League match at Hhyl, and there was a good number of spectators present when the teams, under the control of Mr T. Jones of Holywell, lined up. Prestatyn was represented by goal W. Glass, backs Jack Jones and J. T. Williams, halves T: Brooks, E. Mostyn and L. Watts; forwards H. Hughes, J. Price, W. Bell Jones, G. Glass, and E. Holbrook. J. W. Ellis beat Mostyn for choice of goals and took advantage of the slight breeze, setting the visitors to face a bright sun. Rhyl at once got down, and were awarded a free kick which was passing outside the posts when W. Glass failed to clear and let the ball fall into the goal mouth, Harrison simply walking the ball into the net. This was indeed a bad start for the visitors, but there was worse to follow, for within a few minutes Harrison headed No 2 from a corner. The visitors now attacked, and had the hardest of lines in not scoring. Keeping up the attack Mostyn was fouled within the penalty area, but no notice was taken of it by the Referee. Prestatyn were now playing with determination, and Mostyn sent a shot that struck the upright, with Ellis well beaten. Rhyl now broke away and J. E. Roberts again beat Glass, who seemed unable to see the ball on account of the sun. The blues, nothing daunted, again returned to the attack and the ball was worked on to the goal line, but the advantage was nullified by impeding the goal keeper. A grand shot by Watts nearly took effect and then lihyl paid a hurried visit to Glass and again the ball was placod in the net. From now to the interval Pres- tatyn attacked, but try as they would they could not score, and the interval arrived with the game standing Rhyl 4 goals Prestatyn 0 .1 Straight from tho re-start Lihyl broke away, 0 and Stone scored their fifth goal in the first minute. With five goals against them the game seemed well won, but the Blues never gave up hope, and after Ellis had saved, the ball was placed into the net, but the point was disallowed for an infrigment of the goal- keeper's rights. 0 Within a few minutes the ball was again worked into the net, and this point was quickly followed by another from the foot of Jack Jones, whilst 5 minutes later Glass got right through and scored the finest goal of the day. Prestatyn were now all over their opponents and Ellis (who was holding the ball) was helped into the net, ball and all. But again the Referee was on the goalkeeper's side. and the point was disallowed. Rhyl now kicked out, and many valuable minutes were lost in getting the ball out of ponds and hedges. Prestatyn tried hard till the the finish, but no further scoring took place, the final reading Rhyl Victoria 5, Prestatyn 3. To say that Rhyl deserved to win is out of the question, for they had the worst of the first half, and yet led at the interval by 4 goals. During the second half (when there was no sun) Prestatyn had all the game. With the sun in his eyes it would hardly be fair to criticise Glass, but he certainly should have saved the first goal. Jack Jones made a welcome re-appearance and played a good game, as did J. T. Williams, Brooks, Mostyn, and Watts at half were in good form, and fed their forwards well. G. Glass and R. Hughes were the pick of the forwards, Holbrook nor Bell Jones shewing up as usual, whilst J. Price did very little. The Rbyl team gave a good display, but were aided by a great deal of luck throughout. R. Hughes and the brothers Ellis were the pick of the defenders, and Stone and Harrison in the forward rank. SCRAPS. Prestatyn drop into third position in the league table. The Prestatyn Club have come to terms with Colwyn Bay, and the Welsh Amateur Cup Tie will take place at Colwyn Bay. Jos. Parry of Gwaenysgor will be given another trial, this time as partner to Robin 0 Hughes. They should make a fast wing. Watts will be taking part in the Past v.
