Having, during my stay at Rhyl, detected many faithful Likenesses of Staffordshire and Cheshire Friends, amonBst\fr Sharp's Collection of Likenesses, I am induced to recommend him to any Lady or Gentleman wish. ing to .cure an exact Portrait. I can speak experimentally of his success with the Dagucl'leotype Instrument, M, GAUT, Highficlds, near Leek, Staffordshire. Rhyl, July 17th, 1848. I think Mr. Sharp a most clever Aitist. He has taken most excellent Likenesses of all my family. Nothing can exceed his patience with children, and his anxiety to give every satisfaction to his employers. I most sin- cerely wish him the success he so thoroughly deserves. J. R. OWE, Ineumbeiit of Rhyl. Cambridge, April 4th, 1849. I beg to assure any one that may read this, that Mr. Sharp is not at all a common Photographer Miniature Painter. His system is quite new, and infinitely superior in its effect to any thing I have ever seen of the kind. The accuric), of imliiessioti he can give, and the living expression which lie adds by a very skilful process of coiouringt pioduce a most pelfect, and at the same time a pleasing likeness. I can very strongly recommend Mr. Sharp for his extraordinary success. J. R„OnW„.LT A.NvDnSo Fellow of Queen's College. Rhyl, 18th Sept., 1849. I have the greatest satisfaction in testifying to the excellence of Mr. Sharp's Daguerreotype Portraits. By his great pains-taking and good taste, I am possessed of the truest Likenesses of members of my family, and shall be very glad it this my additional testimony to his meritorious effects should be instrumental in increasing the employment of an Artist who will ever have strong claims upon my best wishes for his prosperity. the emp oyment u an c ts w GEOHGE A. RIOT,—On Friday a serious riot took place in Cork between some men of the 41st regiment, now in garri- son there, and the constabulary. The affair commenced in a drunken row between the military themselves j but when the police were called in to interfere, the combatants took part together against the intruders, and a severe conflict ensued. The soldiers were first worsted, but, having obtained a reinforcement, they returned and attacked the police station, being also aided by civilians. At one time four or five hundred persons were engaged in the fray, and stones were hurled in volleys by the mob of soldiers and civilians. At length an oiffcers' guard arrived from the barracks to the aid of the police, and several of the soldiers were made prisoners. A young lad was killed, and several persons seriously injured. One of the soldiers is said to be in a hopolm state.

BANGOR CORN MARKET, &c., Friday, August 9. In consequence of the heavy showers, our market to-dav was very small, and the transactions unu"ually limited. Notwithstanding the weather being very wet, almost all this week, there was no inclination on the part of the buyers to purchase but very sparingly, prices without alteration. The crops on several farms in this vicinity arc nearly ripe for the sickle, and in some places they are waiting a settle- ment in the weather to commence harvest operations.
