Whence Mr Lews obtained his information we cannot imagine. He states that we are subject to absurd and galling rnles," and treated 11 in a spirit of suspi- cion like nuns in a convent," abd, lIinc we are' the best authorities on the matter, we feel that 'we cannot let such statements pass unheeded and, therefore, we women students of the Hall, one and all, give them 9Ur emphatic denial. We have very few rules here, and these we feej .neither absurd nor Ratlin? they are practically such as exist in every well-regulated home, and they are never enforced in a 11 capricious manner "-a statement which has also been made in another icsue of the same paper. We regard the Hill as a very happy home, and the attitude of our Lady Principal to us, and oars to oar Lady Principal, is that of, perfect trust and confidence. PBOTESSOB RHYA AT BANGft.-Profesmnr Rhys, of Oxford, has recently been staying in Bangor, and on Monday evening last addressed a joint meeting of the Bangor Stndents' National Society, and the Antiquarian Society of the University College. The meeting was held in the Physica Leotnre Theatre of the University, which was filled to overflowing by fhe members of the two sooieties and their friends. Had the public been admitted, a room of several times the capacity of the Physics Leotnre Theatre would no doubt have been required. Pro. fessor Arnold, M.A., presided, and after a short humorous speech, oalled upon Professor Rbya to deliver his leoture on Welsh Folk-lore. Professor Rhye, who was reoeived with repeated rounds of obeering was in his beet moods, and his hearers were treated to a oharaoteristic address. He treated the subjeot. which Is a favourite one with him, with bis usual brillianoe, interspersing bis remarks with splendid humorous touches which were Cheered to the eobo by a sympathetic audieuce. Hie Woribip the Mayor of Bangor desires to sckuowlsdge the receipt of the following contribu- tions, as well as promises of assistance, to the Relief Fund. As will be seen the sum subscribed or pro- mised up to to-day amounts to £148 2a Id, and the coal distribution bas already commenced.
