Lord Lansdowue is expected to relinquish the post of Governor-General of Canada in March, but it is not expected that Lord Stanley tfill proceed to assum-' the duties until May. The nomination for West Southwark took place ou Tuesday, when Mr A. Beddall, Conservative, and Mr Robert K. Causton, Gladstonian Liberal, were uomiuated. The polling is on Friday. Lord Randolph Churchill will visit Birmingham on the 28th proximo, on the occasion of the formal opening of the Edgbaston Conservative Clnb, and will deliver an address, Among the new Queen's Counsel approved by her Majesty on the recommendation of the Lord Chauoellor is Mr Ralph Neville, M.P. for the Ex- change Division of Liverpool. General Sir H. D. Daly, Liberal Unionist, and Mr J. F'. B. Firth, Gladstonian Liberal, were nomi- nated at Dundee on Tuesday as candidates for the vacancy in the representation of the city. The Parliamentary Local Optionists intend to adopt the priuciple of nationality in the measures whioh they will briug before the House. There will thus be four separate Looal Option Bills-for Englaud, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales respectively. Lord Dufferin, Viceroy of India,is about to resign, and will be succeeded by the Marquis of Lansdowue. Lord Stanley of Preston will go to Canada as Governor General. Lord Lansdowne will leave Canada in March, and Lord Stanley of Prestou ia expected to go out iu May. Mr Pyne, M.P., and Mr Gilhooly, M.P., who were arrested near the House3 of Parliament on Friday eveniug, were removed to Ireland and were brought before the magistrates,the first-named at Waterford and the second at Cork, on Saturday, charged with offences under the Crimes Act. Mr Pyne was re- manded to Kilmacthomas for Tuesday, and Mr Gilhooly to Schull for three weeks.
