FESTINIOG. FATAL RAILWAY Accident.—On Saturday, the 27th ult., a sad accident took place on the Festiniogand Port- madoc railway at the Dolygarregddu Station, by which one man was killed and another seriously injured. It appears that juat as the vip-train from Portmadoc was approaching the terminus, where the rail crosses the high road, it suddenly came off the rail, striking with violence against the wall of the Station yard, and upset- ting the trucks, smashing them to pieces The deceased and another man, with two pigs, were in the first truck at the time, and on perceiviug the danger, attempted to get out, and while so doing were hurled over violently. The deceased was frightfully injured in the head, and The (locea,5ed was frig died the following day at the hospital. It does not ap- pear what was the cause of the accident. There is a double rail here in the road, and it is conjectured that a piece of stone may have got between the outer and inner rail. As the first truck was a wooden one, and empty, as were most of them, and the train coming rather fast, a very slight obstruction in the road would be sufficient to seud it off the rail. It is the custom, also, it appears, to put the engine after the train in coming up this branch of the line. We fancy there would be less dan- ger of an accident occurring if the engine led the way, as the tram in that case could be better controlled. The deceased had had great experience on this line, having been employed upon it, we understand, from his youth, so the Company will feel his loss.

FLINT. I The GRAND EISTEDDFOD.-We hear that the prepa- rations for holding an Eisteddfod in the ancient castle of Flint are proceeding most satisfactorily, and that the arrangements are now nearly completed. Sir John I lanmer, Bart, M. P., is the President for the first day, Ilugh Jones, Esq. Maesmynan (ex-sheriff of London) for the second, and P. Kllis K) ton, Esq., (a gentleman of high literary ittainmentsj for the third. A glance at the programme ought to convince every man that an Eisteddfod can be held in these days without confining the people to the exclusive use of the Welsh language, the perpetuation of which it has been elsewhere advanced should be the sole object of this time-honoured institution; for among the su bjects that are offered for competition, those who would aim at being successful must have a thorough knowiedge of English, for it includes transla- tions from the best authors, and subjects in English. Prizes are also offered for industrial productions by working men, as well as painting, sculpture, and photo- graphy and a foremost place is given to music, which includes original glees, trios, duetts, &c. It indicates also the advanced and enlightened spirit with which the Committee are imbued by their offering prizes to vol un- teen for rifle practice. With Mr. Eyton, Dr. Davies, Andreas o Eon, and Mr. R. I). Roberts, (who was suc- cessfully engaged in a similar undertaking while residing in Bangor)-mcn well known for their patriotism and business liitbiti-,It the head of the movement, we have no fear of the result. About i200 hits already been subscribed, which we have no doubt will be further augmented on the upproach of the Festival. Cheap trips are organized, and as Flint is so accessible by rail, this gathering is likely to prove one of the foremost ever held in this part of the country. The Flintshire and Denbighshire Agricultural Society held here some few years back was one of the most successful of the kind, and there need lie no apprehension of the success of the "Fliut Grand Eisteddfod, and Musical Festival of 1865.

i BETHESDA. Communication BETWEEN Bangor AND BETHESDA.- For many years we have had a number of complaints respecting the unsatisfactory manner in which the com- munication was kept up between Bethesda and Bangor. Rickety old cars, filled to overdowing, were put on the road, and in some cases exorbitant charges asked of strangers, which excited mistrust, and drove many a visitor out of the country. Now, thanks to Messrs. Hughes and Littler, a new, safe, and commodious om- nibus has been provided for the public, thus securing a good and permanent communication between the two towns. We hear that the cabmen have joined together, and are about purchasing a second-hand omnibus to compete with the one already on the road. We have no doubt the public will discern between a boon voluntarily conferred upon them and that driven by a spirit of re- venge and opposition, and will give a preference to that which has already been well patronised and appreciated by travellers.

PENTREVOELAS. COURT LEET. —The Court Leet for the Manor of Tir Abbot Isa was held in the Schoolroom, at Pentrevoelas, on Friday, the 2Cth ult., before R. James, Esq., of Lin- coln's Inn, London, the steward of the Manor. As there was only one presentment made, the business was soon over, and the old jurors, constables, and officers of the Court went to the Voelas Arms Hotel where a very excellent dinner was prepared for them by Mrs. Jones, at the expense of C. Wynue Fiuch, Esq. M. P., the lord of the manor. The Anniversary of the Prys Uchaf Friendly Society was celebrated in this village on Friday, the 26th ult. The members assembled at the school-room at 10 30 a.m., when several new members were enrolled, some monetary affairs transacted, and they went in procession to Church, headed by the drum and fife band, where a Very eloquent sermon was preached by the Ilev. 0. Jones, from St. Luke xviii. 10 14 v. They returned from Church in the s tme order and went into the Voelas Arms Hotel, and partook of a most sumptuous dinner provided and prepared for them by Mrs. Jones, in her usual style. Several well-wishers and friends also sat down with them to dinner, who deserve the greatest praiso for their liberality and patronage to such valuable institutions. Among whom we noticed the Kev. 0. Jones, Mr. Morris, Voelas, JJr. Roberta draper, Mr. Thomas, miller, Mr. Evans, Cefngailfa, Mr. Parry, Eryiiiau-britluon, Mr. Thomas, Cefngarw, Mr. Pritch. ard, Cernioge-bach, Mr. Owen, Havodre, Mr. Lewis, Tan-y-Maes, and Mr. Thomas, Pentrevoelas, &e.
