I LORD SWANSEA. i Question of ResMeBce I at Singleton. In the Chancery Division on "fhursdiiy Mr. Justice Russell had before him sum- monses taken out by the surviving trus- tees of the will of the late Richard Glynn Vivian, who died in August, 1912, asking 1 the court to determine wlw>4-her the pre- sent Brron Swansea,, by non-residence for six weeks every year at the family estate of Singleton Abbey, Swansea, had t forfeited his interest in the testator's re- siduary estate. INTERESTED IN THE Will. I The plaintiffs were Sir Arthur Pen. darres Vivien, of Boaliam, St. Martin, Cornwall; the Hon. OdoRichaTd Vivian, Glanogwr, Bridgend; and Mr. Chatles Hamilton Eden, of the Hafcd Copper Work3, Swansea, and. tihe respondents the Eight Hon. Ernest Ambrose Baron Swan- sea, and Ursula Margaret Vivian, the in- fant daughter of the Hon. Odo Richard Vivian, who was beneficially interested in the event of Lord Swansea's forfeiture. Mr. C. J. Mat how, K.C., for Lord SWn. sea, argued that mere physical residence Was not intended, but that the mainten- ance of Singleton Abbey and its pleasure grounds, etc., was sufficient to entitle his client to the income. LGHD SWANSEA TO BE CALLED. j Mr. Clatiaon, K.C.. for Miss TTrfeula Vivian, said that if this was going to be contended he must ask for the stt#fidance of Lord Swansea in order that he should be cross-examined as to what he had done to maintain Sin<r!tdon, which was sold last July. ni otidonce was that the ransMm ho-nM hAd 70 bedix)om». and that, only two htrasemaids ha? hMn êmplêd and ?ce f? tve s?rdecM-s to Icc? after to aftcr w;a s agreed that Lord Swansea should he called on Monday, afcd the hearing was, adjourned until that day, Mr. Mathew saying that he would prove that Lord Swansea had paid aU the rates and taxes and expended a very large fum on tko maintenance ot the estate. t

MR. WORRELL LONDON EYESIGHT I TESTING SPECIALIST, AT SWANSEA | FOR THE WHOLE OF NEXT WEEK. It is certain that no one will fail to apprt, ciate the significance of this im- portant visit to Swansea. The circum- etapecs under which the daily work of the majority of the inhabitants .carried on, work entailing close, and constant ap- plication, frequently in a had. light and a bad atmosphere, n^urally tend to hive a deleterious effect upon the eyesight. But this alone is far from eutsicient. to aí"- ofliunt for the preponderance of eye tron ble. What actually happens in the nUljc ity of cases is this. At the first sight of eye fatigue or discomfort, it is at once con- eluded that tho sufferer must, take to wearing glasses. The fact that the trouble, on the one hand, may be not in rig more than a mere temporary affection, or. on the other. in-y result from a dis- ■■ ease whitli glasses will not cure, seems tO tnako no difference. Whatever the Cfi,¡:;e. glasses are looked upon as the one rem- edy. The result is either that the sufferer condemns himself to wear glasses perma- nently when they could have been avoided, or that he goes <? wearing them until the disease b?co!c<? ma?gnaTit an? the sight is seriously threatened. It is on this point that the forthcoming visit of MH, WORPELL should particu- larly appeal to sufferers from, defective vision. His message to them is this: Impaired vision may, and frequently does, result from c-aui.es which no glasses on earth will cure, causes which, in fact, glasses "in only aggravate. The prelimi- nary step, therefore, .is <bt to see rliat eyeglasses are to be worn, but to ascer- tain beyond, dispute whether glasses are necessary at all! One would imagine that a matter of such vital importance as the care and preservation of the eyesight would re- CL,ivt) the closest attention by everyone. That such is not the case is well-known. The usual course adopted on the appear- ance of signs of failing vision k to take to wearing glasses. And iT is the glasses themselves that are frequently the canse cf the t!'oub?_. ?)mp?y because ?'?ci?nt caro is s?dom taken to arcertain, n?.<iy, that glasses are required at all, and, -so- condly, that they ere the ri-ht glasses. Mr. Worrell proposes to en?, week, Go and consult him. Let k thor««g"hly and carefully eramine yc-t and make sure onocc and for all thai vmir eye- sisrht, that most precious ot all nature's gifts, is not being endr.R;;erer? by want of proper care and attention.
