| FINANCIAL NEWS. CONSOLIDATED WELSH MINES, LD. II The Consolidated Welsh Minos, Ltd., inyite applications for 150,000 Ordinary j biiarcs oi ii each issued at par. The  company, which has an authorised eapi- tal of ?3(M,(!?, has been formed to ac- quire certain leases, mining rights or fc-ftte of the very rich lead and copper mines on the Gogerddan Estates, Cardi- ganshire. Of these the best known are: Esgair Hir, Esgair Ffraith, Blaen Ceu- lan, Loveden, Neuaddllovd, Pempronpren Uella, Vaughan or Llettyevanhen, Pon- ceiyn, G¡- Daren. East Daren, West Daren, South Daren, Gwaithyrafon, Cerrigwyn, Copper Level, Brouoyd. Messrs. Merricks, Crane and Co. advise that the copper level, Bronfloyd and Loveden mines on Sir Lewes Loveden Pryse's estate, will yield good results, and it is not proposed at present to expend' capital on machinery or p?nt to work any of the other properties, but while the  exploitation of these three mines is being proceeded with, the remainder of the mines will be thoroughly prospected and gradually brought into exploitation in I tuck a way as to ensure the most advan- I tageous working of the mines as « whole. The mines aro all situated within easy distance from railway stations and the port of Aberystwyth, so that the concen- trates can be sent to the smelters either by rail or sea. All the roads to the mines are in goad condition, and there is an ample supply of labour Interest at the rate of 10 per cent. per annum is guaranteed for two years. Esti- mating that the three mines named above yield only 300 tons of lead concentrate? per month, their preliminary working should yield substantial profits to the shareholders. The present high prices for lead and copper (about C24 and 4!91: respectively) will probably bemaintainoo for a long time to come. KICK IN TEMPLE. I — Carmarthen Contractor I Killed by a Horse. At the inquest held by Mr. Thomas Wal- ters, the borough coroner, on Mr. William Bartlett (47). contractor. Priory-etreet, Car- marthen, on Wednesday, Basil, an eight- year-old son, said his father took a horse out to graao in a. field at the rear of the house, and as soon as the animal was libe- rated his father, who was standing near a fence, received a kick in the head from the horse and fell to the ground. Dr. 0. P. Parry taid deceased had a ruptured blood vessel as a result of the blow. The cause of death, which occurred i four hours later, was cerebral haemorrhage. The Coroner said what probably happened was that the horse, coming from a stable, felt the joy of being in an open field, and reared before he cantered round the fiold. A verdict of accidental death was re- turned, and sympathy waa expressed with I the relatives.

CAMBRIAN ASSOCIATION. I L To the Editor. I Sit'That ancient society, the Cam- brian Archspological Association, will hold its annual meetings at Swansea next I year, when a week will be spent in visit- ing places of historical and archaeological interest in the neighbourhood. A pre- liminary meeting of members of the association in the locality to make ar- rangements for the annual meetings will be held at the Royal Institution on Fri- day next at 5 p.m. It is hoped that many persons who take an interest in archaeolo- gical and antiquarian studies will render help to make the Swansea meetings a notable success.
