KORMAN COOKE, Esq., Old Post Office Chambers, Aberystwyth. This Company was formed for the purpose of acquiring certain leases, min- ing rights or setts of the very rich Lead end Copper Mines on the Gogerddan Estate," situate in Cardiganshire, North "Rales. Of these the best known are:— Esgair flir, Great Daren, Esgair t'iraith. Pencefyn, It is proposed to instal an Electrical plant at a cost of 2100,POO, for the pur- pose of dealing with the Lead, Copper, end Zinc deposits which exist in very large quantities. Samples of Lead Con- centrates have been submitted to the -ii-ell-known refiners, Messrs. Loos and Sanders, of Birmingham, who report a yield of Sozs. of Silver per ton, and 83.3 per cent. of Lead. This is abnormally rich. Mr. W. T. Lambert, Assayer to the Mond Nickel Co., Ltd., assayed samples of Concentrates of Galena and Blonde, and found from the Galena a yield of: 8 ozs. Silver to the ton. 83.39 per cent. Lead. .16.. „ Iron. 18.11, Sulphur. 3.30. Silica. 99.96 (The Blende yielded: 58.46 per cant. Zinc. 3.11. Lead. .40. Copper. .30 „ M Arsenic. 2.70. Iron. 32.11 „ ». Sulphur. 2.81 „ „ Silica. I 99.89 It is proposed to commence operations en three of the mines, n&mely: Copper Level, Bronnoyd and Loveden. Estimat- ing that thesc three mines yield only 300 tons of Lead Concentrated per month, ( substantial profits should accrue to the ¡ Shareholders, particularly as the present I high prices for Lead and Copper will probably be maintained for a long time. The mines acquired by this Company I have already yielded many millions to their owners working under Adit. With I the installation of an Electrical plant operations can be carried on on a vastly I' larger scale than in the past. There is sufficient Lead, Copper and Zinc on the dumps alone to pay substantial dividends. The outbreak of War awakened public attention to the unrivalled metalliferous deposits of the great central Silurian basin of the Principality. The success of some of the mines in this district has been on a colossal scale. The shares of Welsh Lead Mining Companies bid fair to become a most desirable holding both from the view of oapital, appreciation, and dividend payments. FORM OF APPLICATION. | FINANCIAL NEWS. CONSOLIDATED WELSH MINES, LD. II The Consolidated Welsh Minos, Ltd., inyite applications for 150,000 Ordinary j biiarcs oi ii each issued at par. The company, which has an authorised eapi- tal of ?3(M,(!?, has been formed to ac- quire certain leases, mining rights or fc-ftte of the very rich lead and copper mines on the Gogerddan Estates, Cardi- ganshire. Of these the best known are: Esgair Hir, Esgair Ffraith, Blaen Ceu- lan, Loveden, Neuaddllovd, Pempronpren Uella, Vaughan or Llettyevanhen, Pon- ceiyn, G¡- Daren. East Daren, West Daren, South Daren, Gwaithyrafon, Cerrigwyn, Copper Level, Brouoyd. Messrs. Merricks, Crane and Co. advise that the copper level, Bronfloyd and Loveden mines on Sir Lewes Loveden Pryse's estate, will yield good results, and it is not proposed at present to expend' capital on machinery or p?nt to work any of the other properties, but while the exploitation of these three mines is being proceeded with, the remainder of the mines will be thoroughly prospected and gradually brought into exploitation in I tuck a way as to ensure the most advan- I tageous working of the mines as « whole. The mines aro all situated within easy distance from railway stations and the port of Aberystwyth, so that the concen- trates can be sent to the smelters either by rail or sea. All the roads to the mines are in goad condition, and there is an ample supply of labour Interest at the rate of 10 per cent. per annum is guaranteed for two years. Esti- mating that the three mines named above yield only 300 tons of lead concentrate? per month, their preliminary working should yield substantial profits to the shareholders. The present high prices for lead and copper (about C24 and 4!91: respectively) will probably bemaintainoo for a long time to come. Out of the present issue of £ 300,00' (when fully subscribed), a sum of £ 130,000 will be reserved for working cap!' tal. The directors are: Sir Lewes T. Love- den Pryee, Bart., Gogerddan, Cardigan- shire; Alfred E. Carey, Esq., M.Inst.C.-E.. F.G.S., F.C.S., 36, Victoria-street, Lon- don,S.W.; E. C. I Excited movements took place in a few of the leading exchanges. The Paris dHqne was as high as 37.80 at one time, hut it finished rather lower than this. Italy was nearly two lire higher, business j being done at 17.15, but here also there was oonie reaction at the last, when 46.70 was quoted. The Swiss rate fell rather I heavily to 23.00, and Spain wa? flat. To the banking troubles in Sweden was added ¡ aaother factor contributing to tIw collapse in the value of German marks, wjuch jumped to 13? on continued heavy offer- :c?3, Holland being a very persistent seller. In the eastern group Shanghai I advanced to 6s. 7d., and Honk Kong to 4s. Cd. New York steady at !.16»-1-17. SILVER DOWN-A L-d. I Silver reacted slightly, the cash price declining id. to 66ijd. per ounce, and the forward quotation id. to 64d„ tho weak- ness of the forward metal being respon- sible for the reaction in epot silver. Prac- tically all the gold in the open market has now been disposed of. THE WELSH NAVIGATION STEAM I COAL COMPANY, LIMITED. The Welsh Steam Coal Navigation Co has decided to pay a dividend at the rate of n per cent. per annum on the £ 1 Cum- ulative Preference Shares (10s. paid) in respect of the half-year ended 30th Sep- tember, 1919, and warants will be posted on the 22nd instant to shareholders re- gistered on the 6th instant in the com- pany's books. KICK IN TEMPLE. I — Carmarthen Contractor I Killed by a Horse. At the inquest held by Mr. Thomas Wal- ters, the borough coroner, on Mr. William Bartlett (47). contractor. Priory-etreet, Car- marthen, on Wednesday, Basil, an eight- year-old son, said his father took a horse out to graao in a. field at the rear of the house, and as soon as the animal was libe- rated his father, who was standing near a fence, received a kick in the head from the horse and fell to the ground. Dr. 0. P. Parry taid deceased had a ruptured blood vessel as a result of the blow. The cause of death, which occurred i four hours later, was cerebral haemorrhage. The Coroner said what probably happened was that the horse, coming from a stable, felt the joy of being in an open field, and reared before he cantered round the fiold. A verdict of accidental death was re- turned, and sympathy waa expressed with I the relatives.
