At the conclusion of counsel's speeches Mr. Justice Shearman summed up. He fti-d cruelty of the kind refliiirad to meek a 4zaio cf that nature must consist of a I course of conduct which had broken down, or was likely to break down, the health of a wife. He must tell the jury be did not think either the wife or the husband had been very candid. He warned the jury that to be found guilty of misconduct was a very serious matter, particularly to a doctor. It was clear the jury must not act until they were quite satisfied that the facts brought home conviction as in the case of a criminal charge. tè!

LECTURES ON MUSIC. Mr. Llewellyn Bevan's Tours Under Y. M .C.A. We hear that Mr. Llewellyn Bevan has ivist finished his contract with the Y.M.C.A on a highly successful tour round Nottingham and Brrighton (after a month in London). Two lectures were given in each town. On Sunday afternoon last, at Notting- ham, a lecture on Mendelssohn was Riven to 2,000 people. Air. Kernard John- son.Mus. Bac. (the city organist) pre- sided, and also played the organ in some of the selections from St. Paul" and Elijah." At Brighton. lectures on Men- dlssohn" and Coleridge Taylor were delivered to very appreciative audiences. VIr. Bevan is at Birmingham to-day (Friday), and hopes to be in France on Monday.
