3-32-19 WHEN THE STOP-WOT* I STOPPED I OVER Y,70 FOR THE FUND I The sealed box revealed its secret on I Saturday afternoon, when the wound watch in connection with the stop-watch competition was opened by Mr. Wynne, j ex-President of the Chamber of Com- t mercE, at the Exchange Restaurant. The winding-up ee-pemo»y- had been per- I formed by the same gentleman, in con- junction with the vice-president, Mr. C. A. Cleeves, on and the box was opened in the presence of Messrs. T. I i and accordingly the committee await a c-laini-,tro-n the holder of this ticket. The winning coupon, it transpires, was sold hy Mr. J. Jeffrey, but we have yet to lear n who the holder i. Tho financial result is excellent, in view of the fact that the general election and other distractions intervened. After de- fraying their expenses (which were ex- tremely moderate), the committee will be in a position to hand over at least SEVENTY-FIVE POUNDS I io the committee of the Widows' and OrT)liins' Fund. Now that the work is over, it is only fit and proper to say that during the time they have been associated together the committee have worked with unbroken harmony. No praise can be too high to the respective fnembers of Messrs. Han- cock's staff who were members of the I committee. Mr. T. Buist, manager of the bottling department at Swansea, was an ideal chairman, and like Father O'Flynn, always with a word of counsel and en- couragement for the triers" among the tiket-sdkrs, and helping the lazy one.: on wid a stick." There never was a better chairman. Picture the following, as an instance.
