Mr. Rupert Lewis prosecuted, ami Capt. Harold Williams defended. Capt. Williams, said the defendant was combed out iroiu the sulphate works, and, being without employment, had taken to betting. There had boon no 1 attempt of concealment on the part of the defendant, who was a married man with six children. One eott had been killed in France. The case was adjourned f<n\ three months to see how defendant would I behave.

The War Office issued the following statement on Wednesday nigkitt- General ironside at Archangel reports th,.tt st mutiny amongst the Russian troop? has taken place. The chief parts of the front aifected are the Onega front, where there were no British Troops, and OR the railway front, where there wm a small detach- ment of British, and where the mutiny did not mature. In the Onega area the mutineers have handed over the front and the toa-n to the enemy. On tire railway front the Bolshevists attacked while our troom were feaking over the line fro-ni the muti- neers, bni were repulsed The mutiny war, due to Bolshevist pro- paganda, and was brought to a head by the realisation that we were withdraw- ing from North Kussia and that the gradual evacuation had already begui. A considerable number of the Russian troops apparently ftecided that then only hope was to go e-rer to the Bolshe- vists.. General Ironside now has the situa- tion In oand, and the fresh British oi- tmteer troops, who are, fortvumtely. upon the spot, are believed to be equal to thfeir dihicult aud perilous task. (The Onega sector of the Archangel front ties west of the port of Archangel, and follows closely the southern shore oi the W hite Sea General Ironside by this route maintaining connection wfth the Murmansk front. The tovn ot Onega, is at the mcuth of the river of the same name. The "ran way front" lies between Onega and Archangel, the advanced post on the railway fceid by the Allies being about 00 miles south east ot Onega. J

PENYGROES PEACE DAY. I Peace celebrations were enthusiastic- ally carried out at Ponvgroes. A public procession, headed by the Penygroes Silver Band, and comprising the dis- charged soldiers ajid sailors, the Council School children, all carrying 1br. and the general public, of whom good num- ber were on horseback, marched through th,&. principal roads. A tea for all 'the inhabitants, supplied partly by the Parish Council and partly from private coUections. was thfea par- taken of, followed hy games azd. SKrtrl for the children. Later in the evening ikadreogez were iI. Hr?re? by some of ths I"al ministers. The Cônul' U'wq.1t.t1Y u,dd in siriging through a programme of music, accompanied by the Penygroes String Band.
