The number of Policies issued during the year was 61,744, assuring the sum of A6 282,120, and producing a New Annual Premium Income of j6339>957. The Premiums received during the year were ^2,077,956, beiag an increase of X223,586 over the year 1893. The Claims of the year amounted to £ 518,131. The number of Deaths was 3,584, and 198 Endowment Assur- ances matured. The number of Policies in force at the end of the year was 375,545. THE Guardians of the above Union will, at their Meet- JI ing to be held on the 23rd day of March inst., receive TENDERS from such persons as are willing to Contract for supplying the Carmarthen Workhouse with the following articles from the 30th day of March, 1895, to the 29th day of June, 1895, viz. Spiller's Fines Flour, and Scotch Oatmeal. Rounds of good Fat Ox or Heifer Beef (without the leg- bone), and the Sticking Piece, Legs of Mutton, Veal and Pork, Ox Heads, sides of Bacon (Cumberland cut, of about 281bs each), and sides of Welsh Bacon. Best Welsh Cheese, best Welsh Butter, Fresh and Skim Milk, and good Welsh Potatoes. Tea, Coffee, Epps' Cocoa, Sugar, Split Peas, Rice, Treacle, Pepper, Starch, Soda, Blue, Pale Yellow Soap, and Candles. The best Stone and Soft Coal. The above to be delivered at the Workhouse at such times and in such quantities as the Guardians may require. The Guardians will also enter into Contracts, for one year, for Flannel, Drapery, Clothing, and Iron- mongery for Carpenters Masons', Painters', and Plumbers' Work; for the supply of Coffins for the different Districts; for Boots and Shoes for the In- mates of the Workhouse, and for the Paupers of No. 1 District; Timber for Firewood, and for the Printing. Tenders for one year will also be received for conveying the dead from the Workhouse to the Cemetery at so much per journey, and from the Workhouse to any- where else in the Union at so mnch per mile; and also for conveying Lunatics and Paupers to the Asylum and Workhouse from the Parish of 8t Peter's at so much per journey, and from anywhere else in the Union at so much per mile. Tenders are also invited for delivering at the Workhouse during the year good unbroken Stone, for metalling, from Alltycnap, Wernddu, Tygwyn, Pant, or No. 1 Quarries, stating price per cubic yard, to be measured when broken. The Guardians reserve to themselves the power of con- tracting separately for each article, and do not bind themselves to accept the lowest or any Tender, Printed forms of Tender may be had on application to the Clerk, who will also show the forms of Contract and Bond to be entered into by the Contractor.
