The deceased lady. who was with. in a Few weeks of her 93111 birthday, was the widow of the late Mr Thomas .loues, ()f Port- Penrhyn, Bangor, and sister of the late Mr .Tohn Slater, of thi" tnn. She was well known and held in high esteem by a targe circle of friends. The funeral, which was pri- vate, took place on Saturday, the, interment being at LUndogai Churchyard. A short scrvicc was conducted it, the house by the Rev. n. J. M organ, M.A., the rector, who I also assisted the red or of '.landegni (the Rev. D. A. Jones), in the service at the church and at the graveside. The chief mourners were Mr A. Rhys J one: and Mrs Rhys Jones. The deceased lady's other son, Dr. TQnl Slat- er ionLondon, was prevented by illness from being present. NURSING ASSOCIATION. I The District Nursing Association does a large amount of useful work in a quiet, unostentatious way, and it is probably due to this tatter fact, rather than from airy lack of sympathy with its objects that the Association fails to receive from the general public that amount of support which its usefulness entitles it to. The Association is constantly crippled from laok of funds, and the last financial year, owing to unforeseen expenses, found it £ 35 down on the year's working. With the object of raising funds to meet this deficit a whiat drive was held in St. Mary's Church Schoolroom on Wc<lri(vida,, with satisfactory results. The arrangements were earned out by Mrs II. J. Morgan, Mias Geary, Miss Goodman, and Mr Vaughan Bowen. Donations were given by Lady Mag. dalen Bulkeley, the Miasee I/auric, Dr. E. R. Thomas, Mias Hamilton^ the Rev. H. J. Morgan, the Rev. Joseph leggizis, Mr P. Wynn Griffith, Mr Willi am Owtai (Lloyds Bwik), GonA-mi Sir Owon Thomas, M.P., Mr J. T. Iladwen, Mrs Fanning Evans. Mrs Marshall, Brynycoed, opened a sale of work at Cae- top School on Saturday. She was accom- panied by General Marshall. The Vicar, Messrs R. L. Archer, A. 1. Pryce, and T. F. Dargie delivered short addresses. There was a good attendance, especially of parents. The infants, trained by Miss Port, gave an entertainment which de- lighted everybody. Prepara- tions arc being made on the ground op- posite the Free Library to have the site ready for the Tank. It comes direct from Franee. There are four oases of diphtheria at tho Borough Infectious Hospital, and the mor- tality from the disease up to the present is six, all of them being children living in the lower end of the city. The matron of the In- feotious Hrxspital,^ who has been working mdefatigably during the epidemic, waa takesn ill with diphtheria last Friday, but fortunately, she is improving. He served the inspector with a. quarter of a noggin of rum, for which he charged 8d, which represented 2s ad a noggin instead of 2s Id, tho authorised price. Mr AI- lamson (Carnarvon), defending, pleaded guilty to a technical offence. When the inspector oame to the Ship Hotel he cam- plained that he had a bad cold which he wanted to drown- He wanted whiskey, but the liconoee said lie had none and suggested rum, and said he had a bottle un-cier the counter which he did not exhibit for sale. Dew prosecuted and Mr Allanson defended, and said that Mr King added the neces- sary water to reduce the strength of the whiskey, as he was entitled to do, but the strength was lower than Mr King antici- pated, and he was surprised when the hydrometer showed it was 40.7 under proof. As to the nom-exhibition of the price-list, it had fallien behind some boxes. Mr King had kept the Vauilts for 24 years without a complaint.—Mr King gave evi- dence that he had no idea the gravity of the whiskey was so lmr -A fine of 408 was imposed for overcharging for, whiskey and 20s for not exhibiting the price list. Lora Dalmcny, heir to 'he Earl of Rose- i bcrjr, was granted a divorce yesterday, on tiiu ground of desertion, from his wife, Dorothy Alice Margaret Augusta, the youngest daugh- ter of the late Lord Henry Urosveiior, third sou of the first Duke of Westminster. The petition was heard in the Divorve Court at Edinburgh by Lord Anderson, and amo/ig the witnesses were the Marchioness of Crt'we (Lord Daimeuy's sisler) and Sir Charles lius- sell. In June. 1917, the petitioner publicly ad- vertised that he would be nsponsible no long- er for debts contracted by his wife, and to this she replied with an advertised statenicwl of her indebtedness on personal account, and an allegation that Lord balmeny only trave her a small household allowance.
