Lines on an Inconstant Clock. Oh station clock! Oh station clock! You've caused me many a violent shock Bv the shameless way you seem to mock The people of our village. When on my ears there falls the knock Of vour lourl irregular tick-tock, It makes me wonder from what stock The Railway company bought you. You always seem to be at fault, At times vou're even known to halt You really are not worth your salt In such exalted station. If thev woulrl on Iv take you down lnd in the ditch leave you to drown, We might find in our little town A clock to serve us better. Oh clock whose praises now I sing You really are a funny thing, Worry and loss of trains you bring To those who think You're serious. On you may not rest al! the blame, I've seen clocks élctingjllst the same When mauled by folks I must not name To suit their own convenience. So go 011 ticking till you burst Goon and do your very worst, The public needs do not come first On our enlightened railway. H. P. E.
