Among the organisations for helping suf- ferers in the war the Wounded Allies Relief Committee is doing a notable work. The scope of its operations in indicated by its title, and it works in the closest co-operation with the British and Allied Governments. It has placed thousands of wounded Belgians in hospitals and homes, and it extends support to a num- ber of institutions in France. A motor-amfou- lanoe unit is now on service with the Belgian Army, and a special appeal is made for help- ing forward the work in hospitals immedi- ately behind the firing line, where pro p er emergency treatment is invaluable ingaving many lives. Other features of the work are the provision of training and employment homes for the disabled, the supplydf artitfial limbwi, and the care of wounded on leaving hospital. There is no other representative organisation which asaists the sick, wounded, and crippled soldiers of all the Allies. Local Tribunal.—The Local Tribunal met on Tuesday afternoon at the Coun- cil Office, to consider the appeals sub- mitted. Harbour Trust.-At a meeting of the Barmouth Harbour Trust held on Mon- day last, Captain Evan Richards pre- siding, it was decided to give pressure on the proper authorities to carry out the purifying tanks scheme at Aber- amffra speedily so that the fishermen may again benefit by the mussel in- dustry. The Prince of Wales Fund.—The Local Committee of the Prince of Wa,les National Fund met on Friday evening last, at the Council Office, Mr Rbys Jones, Glanymor, presiding. It was decided to make an appeal to the County Committee for relief, as it was understood that there was much suffer- ing on account of the War in the town. Valuable Cargo Lost.—The American bargue Poltalloch, from Chili to Leith, with a valuable cargo of nitrate, which went on St. Patrick's Causeway, off Harlech, pn the 2nd inst., has now become a total wreck. The cargo is also lost, the total loss in ship and corgo amount to over ,690,000. A Portmadoc tugboat was unable to reach the cause- way owing to the heavy seas. Putting in at Queenstown, the bargue replaced five Germans found among the crew with Britishers, and the ship proceeded on her voyage. Cynhelir y eyfarfod nesaf ar 20fed o Ionawr yn gyfarfod gweddi. Hendremynach Refugees. — Last Tuesday evening, an entertainment was given to the Belgian Refugees at Hen- dremynach. The Chairman of the Committee (Mr Rhys Jones, Glanymor) presided at there were several members ot the Committee present. The pro- gramme was arranged by the Rev. P. H. Lewis, F.T S C., and Mr Rees Jones, Moss Bank. The piano was again this year, as last, lent gratis by Mr W. H. Pyemont. The dining hall was pro- fusely and artistically decorated with festoons, etc. The following programme was disposed of:—Duett, Miss Ann Ellen Rees and Master Randle Rees; pianoforte solo, Miss Blodwen Hughes song, Miss Fanny Jones song, Miss v Jenny Jones, Bronyllyn song, Miss Maggie Roberts; song, Miss Angel Josson (Belgian Refugee); song and chorus, Miss Jenny Jones, Moss Bank duett, "Rock of" Ages," by two of the Belgian Refugees; selections on the piano by Miss Hilda Thomas; song, Master David Ieuan Griffith song, Miss Blodwen Hughes; song, Miss Mary Evans; trio, Misses Maggie Roberts, Blodwen Hugbes and Dora Jones. Mince pies, oranges, crackers, &c., were provided for all the children. Some of the mince pies were given byMrsMorgan' Ballymacora, Mrs and Miss Richards, Greenhill, and members of the com- mittee.—A hearty vote of thanks to Mr P. H. Lewis, Mr Rees Jones and the accompanists, together with the child. ren that took part, and also t'o Mr Pyemont for his generousity in lending the piano was proposed and seconded in very appropriate little speeches in good English by two of the Belgian Refugees who expressed the united thanks of all at Hendremynach to all the committee and the people of Barmouth for their kindness to them and for the generous I I support since they came, and expressed a desire that they may be able at some future date to repay them in some form or other for their generollsity.-A very enjoyable evening was brought to a close by Mr Rees Jones leading in the singing of the Welsh National Anthem. Miss Rowlands, Riverslea, and Miss Roberts, Aelybryo, acted as accom- panists, Odd Fellows.-The half-yearly meet- ing of the Barmouth and Dolgelley District of Odd Fellows met for the last time on Saturday at Barmouth. There was a good attendance of members from the different Lodges. The Mawddach Lodge was represented by Bro. J. Jones, P.P.G.M. (The Library); Bro. C. J. Dempsey, P.N.G. Bro. William Edward Jones, P.N.G.; and Bro. Morris G. Roberts, P.N.G. The chair was taken by the Grand Master (Brb. J. Griffith, Abergynolwyn). Bro. J. Jones, Bar- mouth (district examiner) reported that he had examined the books of the different Lodges and found same in good order.—It was reported that the first meeting of the Gwalia District would be held on Saturday next at Machynlleth. Bro. J. Jones, The Library, was recommended as a Trustee, dele- gate to the A. M. C., and one of the district auditors. Bro Dempsey was recommended as a representative on the Merionethshire Insurance Committee.
