Publication of an Original Military Novel, entitled IN THE DAYS OF THE MUTINY, A TALE OF LOVE, WAR, AND ADVENTURE, By that popular and Successful Writer, MR. G. A. HENTY, Author of "The Curse of Carne's Hold," A Hidden Foe," &c., &c. The usual Instalment appears in our Columns TO-DAY (SATURDAY). QUTLINE OF THE gTOEY. The Story is a Military one, and laid in the period of THE INDIAN MUTINY. Among the incidents are TIGER SHOOTING IN THE JUNGLE. AND THE DEFENCE OF A BUNGALOW. The First Chapter described an Entertainment given by THE NOTORIOUS NANA SAHIB At his Palace to tho English residents in Cawn- pore, while the second (which forms part of the first instalment) narrates the rescue from a tiger of a girl, the daughter of an Indian juggler, by a young civilian named Bathurst. The story turns to some extent upon the rivalry between Bathurst and a military officer for the hand of the heroine. A PSYCHOLOGICAL STUDY. Bathurst possesses the peculiarity of being unable to resist the effect of sudden noises, especially fire- arms, although otherwise he knows no fear. This feature in his character is not lost sight of in the Story. The young lady he rescued is the only child of a juggler from Thibet, possessing powers such as are claimed by modern Theosophists. The juggler is one of the Nana's agents. » An exciting Story follows the foregoing introduc- tion. The Indian Mutiny breaks out, during which Bathurst is. protected by his native friends, and in disguise he goes amongst the Mutineers. During the war he receives a violent shock, which has the effect of restoring his nervous organisation to soundness, and for his subsequent bravery he obtains the Victoria Cross and wins his bride. FOR THE USUAL INSTALMENT OF IN THE DAYS OF THE MUTINY, By G. A. HENTY, SEE THE COUNTY TIMES OF THIS DAY (SATURDAY), t Which contains a Synopsis of previoM chapters. 1 PUBLIC NOTICES. EDWARD A.
