THE BRECONSHIRE EDUCATION COM- MITTEE are about to award EIGHT SCHOLARSHIPS of £6 each to young men over 16 years of age, being residents in Breconsbire, to enable the holders to attend a Short Course of Instruction in Agriculture at the University College. Aberystwyth. An extra sum of C2 will be granted to each student obtaining either the Certificate in Agriculture and Elementary Science or the Certificate in Agriculture only in the Examination held at the end of the Course. The COURSE will commence on WEDNES- DAY, OCTOBER 21st, 1914, and will last eight weeks. The College Fees are £ 3. The two best Students at this Course will be offered further Scholarships/ value JE9 each, ten- able at the continuation Course in Agriculture, which lasts three months. The Scholarships will be distributed as equally as possible throughout the county. NOTICE TO FARMERS, AGRICULTURAL SOCIETIES AND PERSONS INTERESTED IN AGRICULTURE.. THE BRECONSHIRE EDUCATION COM- MITTEE will be prepared to arrange Courses of Lectures in the following subjects, and applications for Classes are invited from District Committees, Parish Councils, Parish Meetings and Agricultural Societies:— (I) A Tutorial Class in Agriculture, to consist of six Lectures before and six after Christmas, will be held in one Centre. The body respon- sible for the application should be able to guarantee an average attendance of 16 or more the number guaranteed will be taken into consideration. (II) Two Lectures on Agricultural subjects, a full list of which can be obtairited from the Organizer on application, will be given at each of six centres, on any subject selected from the list. Single Lectures will be given at Meetings of Agricultural Societies in the day time when such can be arranged, on any of the subjeots mentioned in the List, if sufficient notice be given. (III) Courses of Lectures and demonstrations will be given on the following subjects :— Poultry Management (2 Centres). Dairying (1 Centre). Horticulture (3 Centres). Horse Shoeing, Veterinary Science, Beekeeping (3 Centres). (IV) FIELD EXPERIMENTS. It is proposed to carry out Experiments on the Manuring of Pastures to be laid down during the Autumn and Farmers who have suitable land are invited to communicate with the Organizer. The Organizer will be glad to co-operate with any Farmer carrying out experiments of his own. (V) ADVISORY WORK. ,The Organizer would be glad if Farmers would oonsult him when they have difficulties about the Tillage of Land, Succession of Crops, Manuring of different objects, Feeding of Stock, Seed Mixtures for Pastures and any such questions, and will endeavour to visit any farm in any part of the County where it would be advantageous to be on the spot to advise on any question. All applications for Lectures, which must be received not later than Friday, September 11th, 1914, and any communications concerning any of the above should be addressed to T. J.
