Love in a Workhouse.

Love in a Workhouse. An Ardent Prestatyn Lover. AT the meeting of the Holywell Board of Guardians an amusing discussion took place as to the love affairs of a woman named Catherine Jones, an in- mate of the workhouse. It was stated that a man from Prestatyn was desirous of marrying her, and a letter was read from him asking the Guardians to send him word when Catherine would arrive, and he would meet her at the station. A member asked what "love" was, and the chairman replied that love in this case was that they were found hugging one another at the bottom of the staircase. A Member Is that allowed in an institution like this? (Renewed laughter). The Chairman said that the man was apparently in earnest, and he left a shilling with the woman to pay her fare to Prestatyn, where they were to be married. A Member What does she say? The Chairman I have seen her to-day, and I think it is off." (Laughter.) It is evidently a case of" out of sight, out of mind," so I think she had better remain here.
