Geironydd Rural District Council. Penmachno Sewage Scheme. Opposition from Lord Penrhyn. THE monthly meeting of this Council was held in the Llanrwst Workhouse, on Tuesday. The Rev John Gower presided, supported by Dr Evans, Messrs T. R. Jones, Richard Evans, E. Jones Williams, Hugh Hughes, Wm. Roberts, T. Davies, with the clerk (Mr Hugh Pierce). Alleged Encroachment. Mr Richard Evans called attention to the fact that an encroachment had been made by the managers of the Dolwyddelen National Schools, near Pontypant Church. The matter was referred to the Parish Council for observation. The Condition of Nant Road. LETTERS FROM MINE OWNERS. It having been reported that the Nant Road was in a bad state, the clerk was instructed at the last meeting to write to the local mine owners who chieHy used the road for cartage of mineral pro- ducts, asking them to contribute towards its main- tenance. The clerk now reported that Messrs Brunner Mond & Co., had replied that they could not see their way to contribute anything as the road was used very little by them.—The Welsh Crown Smelter Company asked for the approximate cost of the maintenance as they were willing to con- tribute a reasonable sum.—The Hafna Mine Com- pany said they were willing to join the other companies in replacing the road by laying down Z!1 stones. The clerk was instructed to ascertain which were the parish roads, to enable the Council to allocate the expense of repairing them between the different mines.
