PWLLHELI (pronounced Poolthely) is situated at the Terminus of the Cambrian Railway, in Carnarvonshire, in the heart of one of the most beautiful and romantic districts in Wild Wales. < The Sands cover a .stretch of five miles, extending from the Gimlet Rwk to).Jan- bedrog Head. The tide never recedes more than about 50 yards, and bathing can be indulged in at all times of the day. Some idea of the firmness of the sand mav be gathered from the fact that at times Cyclists are able to ride the entire distance on the Beach. Glyn-y-weddw, the large mansion built by the late Lady Love-.Jones- Parry, is HOW converted into an Art Gallery and Pleasure Gardens, and is open to Visitors. (See View.) This is one of the most charming and picturesque spots in Wales. It starnls at the end of Llanhedrog Ray, in grounds of about 50 acres, four miles from Pwllheh. with beautiful walks along the terraces in the gardens, and rustic paths in the woods on the side of the mountain to the top, from where the uninterrupted view for miles around is unsurpassed in the country, including a good view of St. Tudwals and Bard-ev Islands. It is so sheltered that camellias and other delicate trees and shrubs are grown in the open all the year round. The Art Gallery contains over 400 very fine Paintings and Drawings by P. De Wint, David Ccx, S. Prout, W. J. Muller, Clarkson Stanfield, R.A., J. B. Pyne, J. Syer, T. M. Richadscn, Copley Fielding, Sam Bough, J. Phillip, R.A., Carlo Maratti, D. Triers, J. M. W. Tamer, It.A., Sir E. Lmdseer, R.A., and other noted artists. The Entrance Kail, 20 ft. square by 3G ft. high, lias several magnificent stained-glass windows, embracing coats-of-arms of historic families. A tramway runs direct from Pwllheii alonsr the sea coast to the entrance of the grounds. A most beautiful and enjoyable drive uf over miles. Cars run every half-hour. Fare 4d. all the way. Bardsey Island is also one ot the attractions, noted for its many historical associations sailing boats to convey parties tc the IsHn:! mav be hired for a small sum. I Walks and beautiful Drives are also a gre,- feature in Pwllheli, and as a Cycling Centre no better could be desired. There is a good Cricket Ground provided, ",1 the Golf Links (9 hole course) were laid out under Professor Morris, of Hovlake. BORTH. POSTAL ARRANGEMENT?.—Week-day delivery begins at 7 a.m. and (j 45 p.m. S .imLys at 10 a.m. only. Letter box closes on week days at 6-26 a.m. for Aberystwyth and South Wales, at 9 a.m. for Shrewsbury and Midlands, and at 6 p.m. (all parts). Sunday, 9-20 a.m. for Aberystwyth, 6 p.m. (all Parts). Telegraph office opens from 8 a.m. to S p.m. Sunday from S to 10 a.m. Mrs Watkins, postmistress. THE BEACH.—The stretch of over four miles of firm sands is unriva!led on the Welsh coast, landwards it is edged by the ridge of pebbles and greensward "alongside of which for some distance lie the excellently-arranged and well-kept golf links of eighteen holes which attract so many players. Fishermen return year after year, some choosing to sport with the bass from the rouks at Borth Point. others try their skill with the Dovey salmon, while others less ambitious are content to gain the courteous permission of Sir Pryse-Pryse, Bart., and fish the modest Lerry for trout. THE BATHING.—One of Borth's greatest attractions is its safe and pleasaut bathing. Many families prefer using their own little tents, but machines can be hired. CLIMATE.—The late Dr Thring, headmaster of Uppingham School, wrote I lived at Borth a whole year with my School from March, 1876, and have visited it summer after summer with my family since. I consider the climate of Borth the best I have ever known, fresh in summer and mild in winter, Without being relaxing, and the place in all respects delightful to lovers of sea and country."
