At the Welshpool Town Hall on Monday Colonel Robert Williams Wynn, D.S.O., was presented with his portrait in oils as a memento of his having contested the county three times for the Conservative party. Mr John Lowe chairman of the Montgomeryshire Conservative Association presided, and stated that there were over 500 subscribers to the testimonial. Sunday falls this year on the 12th inst.. on which day, both at the Parish Church and at Holy Trinity Ohurob, sermons will he preached and collections made on behalf of the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel. It is interesting to note that the Prince of Wales, on Saturday, laid the roundation-stone of the new offioes of tha Scelety for the Profanation of the Gospel, to be created at Tofton-street, London, at a total cost of nearly £ 35,000. His Royal Highnees|observed that from personal observation in almost every part of. the Empire he could testify to the great results that the Sooiety had achieved, to the strenuous and self-denying life of its workers, and to its ire-markable success in supplying to our fellow-countrymen abroad, or In the remotest dittriots of India, or our Colonies, the religious opportunities which they had learned to value as members of the National Churoh of England. A little over eighteen months ago the London and North-western Railway Company oommencel a daily service of motor lbusem from Holywell to Mold. Later this was rednoed to Wednesday* aDd Saturdays. The service has now ceased altogether and the oars withdrawn from the road. The action of the Railway Companyps mueh regretted and it is hoped that the effect ot the movement will tend totzavive the agitation for a railway through tha middle ot thecounty. The Holywall Railway—a mere branoh line from thefstattonjto the town his no material beating beyond the idea it conveys that it will form the nucleus of a project to run a railway aoross the county towards Mold. A strong invitation to the Great Ceatral to take up the question should be pushed forward by local authorities, mine, qnarry and landowners and farmers of this part of the country. At the Eaeter Vestry and at the meeting of theOollgregation of the Chuteb, the Vicar of Holywell, when aneounoing the offer to the Chlroh withheld the name of the donor and artist, but, the first conclusion was that Miss Louise Johnson Jones, youngest daughter of Mrs Johrida Jones, of Pistyll, was referred to, and no other guess was made. The Magazine contains the following nota appertaining to the offer when acnounoed to the Veetry, on Easter Monday—" The Vicar made a britf allusion to the question of the now Cemetery, and then proceeded to make mention ot a very handsome offer which had been made to iiec r' te the Channel of the Church with oopies of paintings by some of tbe old Master, e.g.The Lord Supper"' by Leonardo Da Vinoi, an offer which he thought would be appreciated by too ehnrohpeofle of Holywell." At the annual meeting of the con gregation on the Thursday followinif, the offer was coferred to, and the Parish Magazine reaords" It was unanimcusly resolved to aooept the kind offer made te, tha Vioar to decorate the Chancel of the Parish Church with copie* of paintings by the old Masters. The name of the donor in that of the attiot--Misio L. Johnson Jones, of Pistyll, which is a suffioient guarantee that the work will be well exeouted." Mies L. Johnson Jones' offer is a generous one, and made under suoh conditions the work will be onfh as to greatly beautify the Ohoroh. As an astist Miss Johr.aon Jones has exhibited in the leading London gelieries and houses, and com- petent criticism of the sabjeots hung have been full of praise and high eommea.dation of treatment. At the recent Motor Exhibition at Olympia, London, on of the most notable cars on exhibition was a oar constructed for the Canadian Government Emigration Department by the Darraoq. Serpollet Company. The ear is bniltsomewhat after the style of a London motor omnihus, the inside being oooupied by a pyramid on which are exhibited speci- mens of Canadian prodnee. The sides of the car are fitted with large plate glass windows and the front rear and top are ooeupied by appropriate wording setting forth the advantages of Canada from an agricultural standpoint. A largo glass sign with the word Canada ooonpiea a prominent position in the front of the oar and at night this will be lighted by acetylene gas. The length of tbe ear is 20 feet, its height 12 feet 6 iaehes and its width 7 feet 2 inohes. Itllpeect ill limit-id to 12 miles per hour, but it is the desire of the Canadian Government that it should travel slowly in order that when ocossion requires, information may be distributed when the qm is moving from point to point. The car Is paint- ed a brilliant red aad is deooiatsd with the Canadian Maple Leaf, aad altogether is mist attractive and and will doubíle8 create a great deal of interest in the districts through which it will traval. Siuats the close of the ahow at Olymipia the car has been making trial tests on the outskirts of London, and in the coune of a few days will etart on a tour through this distriot. No doubt many of onr readers will with to make a point of visit ing the car while it is in tb -ir locality, acd we understand that full particulars a to the poicts it will visit can be secured from the Canadian Government Agent, Mr A. F. Jnry, Old Castle Building, Preston's ttow, Liverpool. The ar will be in charge cf a competent Government )fficer who will be prepared to oaeet and advise those rho have- any thought of moving to the Great dominion whose advantages will be so well advertised >1 this exhibition ear.

--+, Oriokct Notes. [BY Count* CAP and TAIBLB. The Season has opened, and below will be found something of the doings of our local clubs. Northop held its general meeting on Thursday, Mr Herbert Wilkinson presiding. Mr. E. Price will still ba the secretary, and Mr John Durham wiil act af,, treasurer, in suoression to the Rev A. Davies, who has been obligad to resign owing to his removal from Northop to Rhoscsmor. The Captiiu remains the skipper, and Mr Wilfred Astbury takes up the duties as deputy-skipper, rendered vacant by the departure of Mr 0. H Astbury. Mr Tegid Smith and Nt Edward Asthury wiil be found a real acquisition to the committee. The Northop Club is undoubtedly one of the richest we have, and yet their playing pitoh is really only thinking about getting into shape. Let another fifty years go by and with cutting and rolling daily the ground will become a good one, but no amount of relaying will over improve cricket pitches. It 'a the continual attention, and the years of it which alone coant in suoh matters. Flint are due at Ha warden, 011 Saturday, and wil begin operations at 2.30 p.m. Both teams will have to work hard to oompkta the fixture, and a lot will depend ou the first k ook. Weather indications point ti Saturday beirg fiue and warmer. The low ebb of the financial tide at Mold, has decided its members to organioe a draw. This ia the uiual woaden-legged method of coveri g up bad financing, and oue that the dignity of M .Id cricketers should fo bid. It reminds me of a iuile stoiy of Mold dignkty. There had been a Ct uiity matcH there. W" were all coming off, pretty v-Ii disgusted too, for thiugs bail gone bad for Flintshire, when tue following ramtra w.o wade by a lady: Where did those duffers come from who played with our Snand." Now a olab with a dignity of this magnitude, won't be able to survive a "draw." Take my advice, don't 'ave it. Keep your baok up, and pat your hands down handsomely. The opening of play will probably be a mafceh with Rhos, on tiat-arday. Mr J. Barwise was said to have been appointed groundsman, at Fr daj's adjourned annual meeting. Notwithstanding an apparently unenviable pcospsot, the good old Mold elub will, no doubt, have a capital season. The Mostyn Park Crickat Club, publish their list of fixtures this week, and a right good list it is. LIST OF FIXTURES. MOSTYN PARK. May 11 Scratch witoh home.. won „ 18.Prestatyn .home,. W 11 20.
