Over 1000 Entries! :0- Annual Barry Schoolboys' Sports. The second annual schoolboys' sports of the Barry District Schools, which are to take place on Saturday, July 6tb, at the Buttrills ground, Barry Dock, promise to be the event of the year to schoolboys, for so enthusiastically has the idea been taken up by the young pupils that over a thousand entries are recorded. Last year's sports proved a successful experiment, and it is to be hoped that with such a large number of entries that the public will come to witness the sports in crowds, for there can be no doubt that in matters educational their children ate under one of the best systems of tutelage in the country, and with this assurance, parents and friends ought really to sig- nify their approval to a healthy and practical way of improving the physique and general manliness of their boys in a practical marnsr, by turning up on July 6th to witness the local Olympian games at the Buttriils. The prices of admission on that auspicious occasion will be-adults, 6d children, 2d.; enclosure, 3d. extra.

Barry Horse at Tattersall's.
Barry Horse at Tat- tersall's. LOCAL OWNERS NOTABLE DISTINCTION. Mr James Price, baker and confectioner, Barry Dock, who has for many years past been reputed for his highly-bred pedigree horses, many of which have taken premier honours at local shows, has gained a splen- did distinction with the light bay horse which was shown in the last May Show at Barrv. The animal will be re-called readily by the people of the town on account of its graceful action and fine proportionate build. On Derby Day, at Tattersall's sale in Lon- don-the chief mart for horse sales in the kingdom-the animal secured the highest price of the whole 160 offered that day under the hammer, being secured by General Sir Frederick Fryer, retired Indian Army officer residing at South Kensington. The next highest price secured was for an animal bought by Lord Hugh Grosvenor for over 100 guineas. It is probable that no Barry breeder has ever gained this dis- tinction of getting the highest price at Tattersall's sales for a horse, and Mr Price is to be congratulated.
