The remarkable g. owth aud yearly increasing expan- sion of the Bristol Ch:wne1 marine excursion traffic, which Messrs Edward?, Tobei tson, and Co. may claim to have been the r:fc ro provide for, if not, to create, offers a suitable opportunity for adding a new steamship to the service. It is proposed to acquire a pa/1 tile steamer of the most. ftpproved type, equal in apjlÛintments to the highest class boats now running, of about the same suecd as, and only a little smaller in dimensions than. the weil-knovvn Lorna Doone, and now being built by an ewinent firm of Clyde ship- builders. The new steamer will be 210 feet long between perpendiculars, and 25 feet in beam, as com- pared with the 220 feet length, and 26 feet be im_ of the Lorna Doone. The popularity and high l'eut[Üio!1 of the steamboat hitherto known as the Lady Margaret being so great it is proposed, wit" the consent vf the ownCIS of the preænt Lady Margaret, to transfer that name to the new steamer. The new boat wi1l consequently inlwrit goodwill with which tile old Lady Margaret has long heen regarded in South Wa1es and the West of England, and enter life with the advantage of a name which has always commanded the most profitable portion of the whole Bristol Channel passenger business. The new boat will, it is expected, commence to ply from Cardiff early in thi3 summer season. The Lady Margaret is inteJ1(leù mainly for the PUt- pose of meeting tbe demand of Cardiff and Weston passengers for a quicker and more froquent service. Her speed will enable her to make the passage in about half au hour her draught will permit her to run on the first i1nd lnst, of tho tines; and with these advantages thi) Lady Margaret may be expected to make five trips 011 a tide at convenient hours. Last autumn numerous requests made from both sides of the Channel fer a winter service between Cardiff and Weston. The Lady Margaret will be of such strength and design that she wHi be granted a No.2 Board of Trade Certificate to run to Weston in the winter, antI round tho coast to Plymouth, etc., durin the summer, shouid the induce- ment, ùffer. It is proposed to form the Company for the rurpoe of acquiring the steamer, and with a capital of £1[,,300, to he divided into 3,060 shares of B5 each £1 per share to be p3id on application, £ 1 on allotment, am, the balance as and when required in calls of £1 each, at intervals of not less than two months. The Com- pany will be formed exclusively to acquire and work the now L(1,dy Margaret. The boats no longer draw their traffic from Cardiff and Weston alone, as by through bookings on the Taff Vale and Rhymney Railways," the populations of Mer- thyr, Aberdare, and the Coal Valloys are able to avail themselves of the opportunity of a sea trip. The Taff Vale liadway Company will be approached with a view to malcing arrangements by which facilities will be afforded passengers who wish to depart from aud arrive at Penarth Pier, whereby a considerable saving of time will be efÏected., The Pier, close to the Penarth Station of the Taff Vaie Raihvay, is bound to be of great service to Channel Cassengers from "the Hills" and inland districts, esides forming a distinctly additional advantage to Penarth itself, wInther it is certain to attract large numbers of holiday-makers from the opposite shore, and thus cannot fail to promote the traffic of tho Lady Margaret. There is an increasing number also of passengers travelling from South Wales to the South and West of England who take advantage of the through bookings by the Weston boats in pre- ference to making the roundabout journey via J3.-istoJ. For the convenience of passengers it is intended to pay special attention to the catering department on the Lady Margaret. On review of the circumsfanc's ar.d profits of the Cardiff and Weston service in the past, and careful calculation of the prospects of a new, speedier, and more comfortable service in the future, tho Directors believe that the earnings of the Lady Margaret will be sulfijient, after setting aside an annual sum for depreciation, to pay the shareholders at least 10 per cent. The only agreement in operation is that. betweea Messrs Edwards, Robertson, and Co., the Vendors, aml the Company, which can be inspected at the Registered Offices of the Company. Forms of Application for Shares can be obtained from the Offices of the Company or the Solicitors. In the event of no allotment beillg made tl1e deposit will be retained in full. 1913 tIIIII8F4- -us €mirst £ ms. ORIENT COMPANY'S PLEASURE CRUISES, FOR GREECE, CONSTANTINOPLE, Ac. The ss.
