On the Sunday, especially, the church was crowded with worshippers, church was crowded with worshippers, additional seating having to be provided to supplement the usual seating of 500. The preachers were the Rev. J. Lundy Richards, Tylorstown, and the Rev. W. Watkins-Edwards, Rural Dean of the Rhondda. The church was beautifully decorated by willing workers, and the musical portion of the services was intelligently and de- voutly rendered under the conductorship of Mr. Ted Lewis. This is a district which,. with a popula- tion of 9,000, has had to pass tlirough many difficulties and anxieties, but "the loyalty of the laity—all wW earners-is air- mounting them. Two years ago the church was re-roofed at a cost of 1200, and six months later the parsonage was bought and improved at a cost of Y,700, thus making a debt of £ 900 altogether. By last Easter this had been reduced to < £ 642. If any heart be opened to sympathy with our eft'"rV, the Rev. G. E. Carpenter, St. Stephen's, Ystrad- Rhondda, will gratefully acknowledge any gift. We yet need an organ to lead the wor- ship and a hall for parochiul and social purposes. D THE Welsh Church, Dowlais, is observ- ing its harvest festival this week.
