IN consequence of an Address to the Proprietors of Lands interested in Inclosures, inserted in the-«CAR- MARTHEN JOURNAL of the lst and 28th of April last, several Gentlemen have requested me, both personally and by let- ter, to state my terms for 11 Surveying and Valuing of Com- mons, prior to an application to Parliament, and also to give thsm an Outline of what may be the probable ex- pence attendant on an Inclosure." I have, therefore, cal- culated the expence for a Common of 2000 Acres, and sup- posing the Old Inclosures within the Manor to amount to 3000 Acres, the charges will be £1400, provided there is no disputed Boundary to settle after the Act has passed. This obstacle, so little attended to, frequently causes one-sixth of the expence, which might have been spared the Proprietors, had either an individual or mutual concession taken place in the first instance. It is hereby evident that the whole loss sustained by the Proprietors could only amount to one-ninth of the gross value; and where Commons are of greater magnitude the proportion will be less. The only difference will be in the charges of the Surveyor, as the Commissioners and Solicitor have nearly as much trouble for 1000 Acres, as they would have for 3000. The sole intent of the above statement is to give informa- tion to Proprietors who complain of the heavy expence, without adverting to any Gentleman concerned in the Inclo- sure of Waste Lands. I am not only a well-wisher to In- closures from the nature of my profession; but also from a thorough conviction of their utility. Whenever I may be employed either as Surveyor or Commissioner, provided the necessary statements of the Lands to he enclosed have been made out in the first instance. I will engage to perform my duty according to the above charges. My Terms for a General Outline of a large Cognmon, merely to shew the Proprietors, is 2d. per Acre. WILLIAM COULING. IT is much to be regretted, but indisputably cer- tain, that many persons of both sexes are deterred from entering into the married state, by infirmities, which deli- cacy forbids them to disclose and thtre;tre not a few, who, beitie already married, are rendered miserable, for want of those tender pledges of Mutuailove, without which, hap- piness in this state is, at leastJvelS' precarious.
