Cricket. LLANRWST v. LLANDUDNO. LLANRWST IN A WINNING MOOD. The return match between these clubs, at Gwydyr-park, on Saturday, was awaited locally with much interest. It will be remembered that Llanrwst were beaten bv a narrow margin on their visit to the seaside a few weeks ago, and Llandudno being this year the premier club on the Coast, not having suffered a single defeat during the season, the home club determined to put up a good fight. Winning the toss, Llan- dudno elected to bat first on a perfect wicket. Farrington and the Rev. W. E. Jones opened the innings to the bowling of Ashley and Orton. The former opened his account with a single, and when five had been scored, W. E. Tones was badly missed, but in the next over he was clean bowled by Ashley. Tripp was the new comer he opened with a single, whilst Farrington drove two or three balls for two's. Tripp, who was hitting hard, was missed twice off successive balls, and at ?2 Hayes went on in place of Ash- ley. With his third delivery Hayes had Tripp caught at point. A. N. Wills was bowled by Orton when he had scored 2, and Farrington was joined by Brownfield, and he also met with the same fate when he had scored 13. C. N. Jones was run out for 7, and half the wickets were down for 70 runs. R. P. Humphreys joined Farring- ton, but the latter was soon after beaten by Or- ton, having played a splendid innings ot 34. Hobson onlv survived one over, when he was caught by Hayes off Orton, and without any addition to the score Howell Jones was taken in the slips by Owen, for 5. Hornsby was dis- missed by Alban Lloyd for 5, and Hartley brought up the rear, Orton dismissing Hum- phreys for 13. The innings closed for 123. I Llanrwst opened with Carter and Norman Jones, to the bowling of Howell Jones and Hart- ley. Norman was clean bowled with Howell Jones's first delivery, and Alban Lloyd, who filled his place, was also quickly dismissed, and two wickets were down for three runs. Elias opened his account by gliding Hartley to leg for a couple, and pulling the same bowler for 4 and 2. Carter was clean bowled by Howell Jones for 5, but upon Ashley joining Elias, runs came merrily, both batsmen playing sound cricket. At 55, however, Ashley was dismissed, being caught by Tripp, off Howell Jones, for 28. Or- ton joined Elias, and the score rose steadily, and a change was made in the bowling,Tripp going on in place of Jones. Runs continued to be added freely, until, at 91, Orton was out leg before to a lob, for a grandly compiled innings of 23. The veteran Tommy Owen joined Elias, | and the two treated the bowling to some severe punishment, so that the required runs were quickly scored amid great excitement. When time was called, they were still together, having carried the score from 92 to 138. The home club was therefore victorious by five wickets and fourteen runs. Score:- Llandudno. C. F. W. E. Jones, of Llandudno, handed to T. W. Orton, the Llanrwst profes- sional, the ball, with which he accomplished the hat trick at Llandudno a few weeks ago. On the ball was a shield with a suitable inscription. Mr. Jones, in making the presentation, gave the history of the feat, stating that Orton had performed an unusual achievement in having secured four wickets in one over. At a meet- ing of the Llandudno club on the following Mon- day, it was decided that that presentation should be made. They thought it a very fitting occa- sion to seal the friendship between the two clubs. (Hear, hear.) They were old rivals, and always played their hardest, and he hoped this good friendship would continue. (Applause.) Mr. Orton said it came to him quite as a sur- prise when he was told of the intention of the club to make that presentation. He would look back on that day as a red letter day, and he hoped he would soon accomplish a similar feat. (Hear, hear.) There was one thing which he would like to say, and that was he hoped the clubs would always play their games out. Llanrwst were certainly having a hard time at present, but he i hoped they would soon pick up again. (Ap- plause.) He thanked them very heartily for their kindness in making the presentation.

Bettws-y-Coed Petty Sessions. On Saturday, before Colonel Johnstone, Messrs. L. W. Jelf Petit, R. Parrv, and L. O. R. Ashley. GAMEKEEPER ASSAULTED. Robert Parry, Bank Llugwy, Bettws-v-Coed, was charged with assaulting Mathew H. Ellis. Mr. C. T. Allard appeared for the prosecution, and stated that complainant was under-keeper to Mrs. Ley, of Capel Curig, who took the Gwydvr Estate shooting. It appeared that the com- plainant and other keepers had been setting snares in a certain field, and on several occasions they had missed the snares and the rabbits also, and consequently the complainant was orderd by the head keeper to watch Hendre field, in company with another keeper named McNaogh- ten. This was on the 24th June. Between 8.30 and 9 p.m. some boys were seen examining the snares for rabbits, and amongst the boys was one of defendant's sons. They were caught by the keepers and sent off. A few days afterwards, complainant met the defendant in Greiglan-road. The defendant was riding in a cart, and com- plainant pushing his bicycle. Defendant asked him why he had squeezed his bov, and com- plainant replied It was not me, but McNaugh- ten;' whereupon defendant jumped from the cart and hit him on the side of the head, just below his ear, knocking him towards the fence. He tried another blow, which complainant was able to evade. Complainant bore out his solicitor's statement, and a fine of 20s. and costs was imposed. Defendant was then charged with using threats towards John Llewelyn Evans, head keeper to Mrs. Ley. Complainant said that after being assaulted, Ellis, the complainant in the previous case, came to the hut where he was, and made a complaint, in consequence of which he went out in company with Ellis and Mr. Bowers. They' met defendant, and Bowers asked him why he struck Ellis, whereupon de- fendant said For pinching my boy." Evans said he was only carrying out his orders, and de- fendant said I'll half kill you, too, when I get hold of you by yourself." Mr. A. K. Bowers, Cwmanog Ucha', corro- borated. Defendant, who denied having used any threat to half kill the complainant, was bound over in the sum of 4_5 to keep the peace for six months.

I Colwyn Agricultural Show. A FIXE DAY AND A FINE SHOW. The Colwyn Show, which was last held two years ago, took place on Wednesday (through the much appreciated kindness of the Rev. H. E. Mocatta, M.A.), in the Minvdon Field—an ideal place for such an event. The day was gloriously fine, and the entries created a record, being several hundred more than in 1908. The Executive are to congratulated upon the ex- cellent arrangements, all of which gave much pleasure to the public. The quality of the ex- hibits was splendid, and the judges had in many cases a hard task in discerning the winners. Mr. R. Martin Smith was this year's Secretary, and he got through his exacting and onerous duties with commendable dispatch. Much pleasure was felt at the presence of the Society's President, Ir. Walter Whitehead, and he with the energetic Chairman, County Councillor D. Mac XicoI, evinced the greatest interest in the show. LIST OF JUDGES. Heavy Horses: Messrs. J. Kellett, Ruthin, and E. W.
