TO THE EDITOR OF THE RHYL…
TO THE EDITOR OF THE RHYL JOURNAL Sin,-On the 31st ult. I inserted a letter in your con- temporary The Rhyl Advertiser upon the necessity of having a properly equipped boat ready for any emergency provided near the bathing machines, and I observe that Mr J 0 Vaughan has replied to the same in your paper. I regret the tone which characterized his letter. I disclaim any feeling in the matter; I am in no way concerned as to who keeps the bathing machines. Mr Vaughan questions the accuracy of the report of what took place at the accident in question. All I can say is that I quoted the report from the columns of the Rhyl Advertiser," and the reporter asserts that the report is absolutely correct, as he was an eye-witness of the occurrence. Both Mr Vaughan and myself being at issue in this matter, I think the public will accept the version of an independent person and so far as the report is concerned I shall let the matter rest. I can quite understand Mr Vaughan's anxiety to prove that the boat was not required, but no amount of special pleading or the introduction of irre- levant matter will blind the public to the absolute necessity of having a boat at the ladies' and gentlemen's bathing machines, and that those boats should be in a seaworthy condition, and ready to be launched at a moment's notice. I repeat that it is nothing short of criminal for bathing to be allowed without proper remedies being at hand, and I ask our District Council to insist upon boats being provided. I shall certainly not allow this matter to rest with mere letter writing, as it has been allowed to lie on the shelf too long.—Yours faithfully, A RESIDENT RATEPAYER. Bhyl, lltb Sept., 1895.

RUPTURE TRUSS NS.-Referring to the inquiry made by a correspondent recently in our columns, the following extract from then Lancet, August 4, 1894, wil be interesting:—"The Link Shell Truss Co., 171, Wardour Street, London, W., have a new truss. It is claimed that by this method of manufacture a truss is provided which will be more comfortable than the one in ordinary use, and better able to adapt itself to th various movements of the day, especially if these are of a sudden character. The truss is fitted with a hip. joint regulator, by means of which the pressure is increased or diminished as required, and with a soft shell. pad perforated for; ventilation. The truss as thus completed is an efficient one. Foil particulars are sent free by the Link Shell Truss,. Glasgow Evening A* tea, Angast 7. 1894.

Clwydfardd and the Old Church…
Clwydfardd and the Old Church Clock. TO THE EDITOR OF THE RHYL JOURNAL. ,SIR,-For nearly twenty years the late Arch- druid Clwydfardd superintended the old Church Clock. He persisted in the discharge of his duties to the end, in spite of all remonstrances, as he was determined to hand it over in good working order. His last working day he spent on the old clock. He told the writer on leaving off that he was going to Denbigh that evening to attend some meeting. On his way home from the meeting he had a paralytic seizure, and in consequence was taken to his daughter's house, where he was carefully and tenderly nursed for some time. At first he was very uneasy in his mind on account of the irregular striking of the old Church Clock. One day at noon his daughter listened to the kitchen clock striking and informed her father that she had heard a clock striking twelve correctly. That's all right" he said, and turned his face to the wall and never mentioned the old clock after that. Notwithstanding all the care and attention paid to it, not a hand will move, it is as silent as the grave. It has come to a full stop after a hundred years service. It is evident that it is worn out, and the only remedy consists in replacing it with a new one, and at the same time it is proposed to complete the existing peal of bells by the addition of a new treble. A new clock is an acknowledged want, and so it is earnestly hoped that the {parishioners of Abergele, irrespective of creed or anguage, will come forward and aid us with their contributions in order to purchase a new clock J*hich will be a sort of memorial to the immortal ^ydfardd. thp if.also proposed (funds permitting) to replace mpmnrl8toric stone in the churchyard to the T x, ° V* man who lived at a place three miles TVio r>rp<5fm+1' W^ifih is now covered with the sea. rJ,i;nr? a«t0ne' a copy Of an older °ne» 18 obliteraterl.
