Mountain Ash Jottings. BY "LUCIFER." Coun cillor Wm. Evans got quite nasty Over that interview with Mr. Beasley which didn't come off. The facts were those: Councillor Wm. Dudeg and T. W. Jones were appointed from the Coun- cil to see the T.V.R. manager concerning 8 more convenient road fioin Ahercyiu-n yilluge to the station, while yet preserv- ing the old subway for the uso of col- liers working at the Dow la is Cardiff Col- liery. Mr. Beasley, it transpired, was not averse to meeting members of the Council, but refused to see them in uni- junction with representatives of the Ahercynon Chamber of Trade. Al t,. Kvans also blamed the Clerk for not ar- ranging a meeting between the deputa- tion and Mr. Beasley. A Fire Brigade, to be efficient, must have some means of calling the members together when a fire occurs, elt-e it is useless forming a Fire Biigade. This is what the Penrhiwceiber l ire Brigade are iiow for. They want call bells, iilso plates in various parts of the streets indicating where the hydrants lie. The whole matter has been rcfeired by the District Council to a committee and the surveyor, and it is hoped that some- thing will he done immediately to re- move the disabilities suffered by the Bri- gade. The Penrhi wceiber Pleasure Grounds are now in full swing, and the whole ar- rangements completed. Abercynt.it and Ynysybwl will not rest satisfied until (hey are granted similar facilities. Nego- tiations are already in progress fur a re- creation giound at Abercynon. Is the number of New Theologians at Mountain Ash increasing? To all ap- pearances it is, th-nigh, theologically .speaking, things are very quiet there at present. The Unitarian Van has caused some stir and warm times have been ex- perienced. I hear that as the outcome of a heated discussion between the mission- er, Rev. H. Fisher Short, and one of the local curates, a public debate is likely to take place. fien Wiad fy Nhadau," beloved by every Welshman all the world over, is now very prominent before the public. A movement is afoot at Pontypridd to inise a memorial to the author of this song. The Mountain Ash Council were appealed to at their last meeting to help the cause. As a Council the members i could do nothing, but it is hoped that some ol the Welsh Nationalists who are such sticklers for Welsh teachen. nod Welsh leaching, will be able and willing 1 J lend >i helping hand.
