PORTMADOC COUNCIL ELECTION. TO THE ELECTORS OF THE EASTERN WARD. Ladies and Gentlemen,— You have done me the honour of re- electing me unopposed to represent you on the Council. I am conscious of the honour; at the same time I feel the hon- our carries with it great responsibility, especially at the present time. It will be my endeavour in the future as in the past to aid in administering our local affairs with every economy, commensurate with efficiency. Yours faithfully, RICHARD 'NEWELL.
TO THE ELECTORS OF BARMOUTH…
TO THE ELECTORS OF BARMOUTH URBAN DISTRICT COUNCIL. Ladies and Gentlemen,— Twelve years ago you were good enough to elect me as one of your Representatives on the Urban Council. Since then you have on several occasions renewed your confidence in me. Before I further appeal for your ap- proval, I beg to tender my sincere grati- tude, not only for your continued faith in me, but also for your loyal support to carry through questions of vital import- ance to the prosperity of the town. I first became a member of the Council in the dark and troublous days when the financial position of the town was in a critical state, and I never shrank from the responsibility of giving heavy personal guarantees, always fully believing that with careful and economical management, the affairs of the town would eventually be placed on a firm and prosperous, basis. During all the year I have had the honour of representing you, my only object has been to carry out, after careful consideration, what I thought was to the advantage of the town. I have done all in my power, from time to time, to have the rates reduced, not- withstanding the great loss caused by un- tenanted houses. I am strongly in favour of reserving public rights. The vexed and contentious question of the" Foreshore" is now prac- tically settled, and that to the immense advantage of the town, and I hope to prove to the ratepayers at a public meet- ing in the course of a few days, when I can further state my views upon future improvements. In renewing my appeal for your support, should I be fortunate enough to be re- turned, I can promise no more than that I will exert all my efforts in the future as I have done in the past (none of which I have cause to regret) for the benefit and advantage of the town. I have the honour to remain, Your faithful servant, D. E. DAVIES.

ELECTION ADDRESSES. BARMOUTH URBAN DISTRICT COUNCIL ELECTION, 1910. TO THE RATEPAYERS. Ladies and Gentlemen,— Having been nominated as a candidate in the forthcoming Election, I wish to ex- plain briefly my intentions if elected. I have no definite proposals to lay before you, but shall always have foremost in mind and action the welfare of our little town. 1 have no selfish ends to serve, but shall always act in accordance with the dictates of my conscience without fear, favour, or party ties. I favour the enclosing of the Recreation Ground, also the definition and maintenance in proper order of all footpaths. The maintenance of the Marine Parade will also secure my hearty support. I do not believe in making extravagant promises in order to secure your support, but should you do me the honour of re- turning me as one of your representa- tives, I shall do my best to merit the con- fidence reposed in me. Should you ap- prove of my candidature, please put your cross opposite No. 4 on the Ballot Paper on Saturday. I am, yours Faithfully, WALTER. LL. JONES. q392
