APPOINTMENT OF MASTER AND MATRON. THE GUARDIANS of this Union will, at their meeting to be held on Tuesday, the 22nd January, 1889, proceed to the election of a Master and Matron for the Union Workhouse. Candidates must be man and wife, and fully com- petent to keep the books and accounts, and perform all the duties of their respective offices as prescribed by the orders of the Local Government Board. The appointments will be made subject to the approval of that Board. The salary of the Master will be £ 40 per annum, and that of the Matron JE20 per annum, with un- furnished apartments, fire, lights, washing, and the usual officer's rations. Applications in candidates' own handwriting, stating their respective ages, family (if any de dent), present and previous occupations, accom- panied by testimonials of recent dates as to character and fitness for oHice, must be sent to me on or before Monday, the 21st day of January, instant. The Master will be required to enter into a bond with two responsible sureties in the sum of 9100 for the faithful discharge of his and the Matron's duties, and the Master and Matron must agree to give one month's notice previous to resignation, or to forfeit one month's salary.
