Prior to returning home, no person should fail to visit the GREAT ENTERTAINMENT OF LONDON, Which has attracted densely-crowded Audiences to the ST. JAMES'S HALL, PICCADILLY, EIGHT TIMES IN EACH WEEK, without intermission for nearly FOUR YEARS! The Veritable and Legitimate CHRISTY MINSTRELS, comprising THIRTY-FIVE PERFORMERS OF AC- KNOWLEDGED EMINENCE — Including all the Surviving Members of the ORIGINAL COMPANY (brought to this Country in 1857), including Mr W. P. COLLINS, Mr A. NISH, Mr I. SPILLER, Mr JOE BROWN, Mr G. W. MOORE, and THIRTY OTHER ARTISTES. No other Ethiopian Company in existence possesses a single individual member of the Original Company of the world-famed Christy Minstrels, who first introduced the entertainment of which they are the founders. This Company is now registered according to Act of Parliament, as the ST. JAMES'S HALL, ORIGINAL CHRISTY MINSTRELS, and NEVER PERFORM out of LONDON under any circumstances whatsoever. Persons residing in the Provinces who have often been sorely perplexed at the multiplicity of Troupes traveling about the country, styling themselves Christy Minstrels, are informed that, owing to the title having originated in America, there is no legal protection against any person or persons making use of it in this Country. But it must be borne in mind that the Company so long located at the St. iJames's Hall, Piccadilly, comprises all the chief members who first introduced this class of entertainment into!England, and who created its world-wide reputation, any person at all sceptical as to the truthfulness of this statemert, can easily satisfy themselves by referring to the London Papers of 1857 (the year in which the original Christy Minstrels first appeared at the St. James's Theatre), it will then be seen that all the most noted members of that great Company are now associated to- gether at the St. James's Hall, Piccadilly. This Company is now designated as stated above, as the ST. JAMES'S HALL CHRISTY MINSTRELS, and should not be confounded with any of the various Troupes traveling about the Country. The Performances of the St. James's Hall Christy Minstrels being exclusively confined to the ST. JAMES'S HALL, PICCADILLY, which is their fixed home. From Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, and Cambridge- shire we received about 870 Scots and crosses; from other parts of England, about 570 various breeds; from Scotland, 180 Scots and crosses; and from Ireland, 90 oxen. We hud, however, a fair oemand, and Monday's quotations were pretty generally realised. The number of sheep and lambs was about the same as last week. Trade was very dull, and a clearance could not be effected, yet choicest descriptions were not much lower. Calves were scarce and dear. Our foreign supply consisted of 299 beasts, 5,220 sheep, and 76 calves. MISCELLANEOUS. LONDON HOP, MONDAY.—During the past week our market has continued steady, but with rather less demand for home growths; prices, however, maintain their ground, owing to the comparatively small stock on offer. Continental markets are reported very firm, with a tendency to improvement, the stocks be id having been materially reduced of late. LONDON SEED, MONDAY.—Fine red Cloverseed still comes out slowly, and commanded full prices. German and Belgian samples were quite us dear. There was a limited demand for white qualities, at no variation in prices. The wintry weather checks all trade in seed. Trefoils were unaltered in value. White Mustardseed brought high rates. Foreign Tares were taken off to a limited extent at rather lower prices. Maize met a fair demand at quite as high rates. LONDON WOOL, MONDAY.—Manufacturers being now well supplied with colonial produce, and there being a good prospect of further heavy imports, there has been little inquiry for Eng- lish wool, and the general tendency ot prices is downwards. Fat, Sad. to Bid. THE IRON TRADE. BIRMINGHAM, THURSDAY.—The business transacted at the Exchange, to-day, was next to nominal, though orders are much needed, for there are very few of the works at which the supply is not extremely scanty. The Quarter-day meetings will com- mence next Wednesday at Wolverhampton, but it is to be feared that in present circumstances not much good will come out of these assemblies. Telegrams were received here to-day, an- nouncing that at the Dutch sale of tin the Price realised was equal to S140 per ton in London. NORTH STAFFORDSHIRE.—(THE COAL AND IRON TRADES.) —The Quarterly Meeting of the North Staffordshire Coal and Iron Masters' Association, was held on Thursday afternoon, at Stoke-on-Trent. The trade in its various branches was stated to be steady, but not animated, and it was the unanimous feeling of the meeting that there was nothing to warrant any advance in prices at present. A resolution to this effect was passed. The subject of the Factory Acts, and their operation on the iron trade, was again taken into consideration, and, as on former occasions, it was stated now that the principal effect of the law had been to deprive of employment a number oflads, often under circumstances of great hardship, and that many of such lads were living in idleness, and not sent to school. The general opinion of the meeting appeared to be that, in the interests of the workpeople themselves an i their children, an alteration in the law ought to be made at the earliest opportunity. In con- nection with this matter, it was mentioned that coal picking," as it is called, but which really amounts to coal stealing, by boys, was greatly increasing.
REVIEW OF THE BRITISH CORN…
REVIEW OF THE BRITISH CORN TRADE. (From the Mark Lane Express.) The weather has again been cold and seasonable, allow- ing the resumption of field labours, more especially on he drier soils, and a large extent of spring corn has been successfully planted. We cannot, however, speak in the same favourable way as to the coming crops, the wheat in many places, especially in Kent, giving but little promise the long prevalence of wet and the rank growth produced by the mildness of the earlier portion of the winter now exhibiting their effects. Indeed, so altered have appear- ances become that the chance of an equal crop to 1868 is remote if not impossible. The colour of the plants gene- rally has altered, and the fresh green lately exhibited has turned to yellow while the flag has been so much reduced that where the crop was so thick on the ground that the latter was obscured, it is now plainly visible. Some farmers look upon this as an advantage, others give up the hope of abundance, and however seasonable the summer may be, it seems unlikely that it can make up for the untimely warmth and wet of the early part of the past winter. Still, as a whole, the cold of March has been most serviceable, for without much severity it has effect- ually changed the forwardness of vegetation, and in a like proportion gives the prospect of an average gathering of fruit. It is the wheat now that is most in jeopardy. The great depression of last week has given place to greater confidence, more especially in the country, where there has been frequently an advance of Is. per qr., and in some instances more, although the improvement in London has been doubtful. Mark Lane, however, cannot fail to follow suit if there should be several repetitions of Monday's market, which was the smallest since harvest. In France, too, matters have mended. Paris was rising fast, but finally received a partial check, though in the country the majority of the markets were fully Is. per qr. higher. Belgium shows some improvement, as well as parts of Germany, including Danzic and spring wheat in New York has rather hardened, but not flour. Fluctua- tions depending on supplies, we are likely to see all through the seasbn, but a much higher range seems unlikely with- out some positive disaster. The sales of wheat noted last week were 53,220 qrs. at 47s. 9d., against 40,896 qrs. at 72s. 6d. in 1868.

SUCCESSFUL TREATMENT of GENERAL DEBILITY WITH DR DE JONGH'S LIGHT-BROWN COD LIVER OIL.-In cases of debility and emaciation, the powerful curative influ- ence of Dr de Jongh's Light-Brown Cod Liver Oil is well and scientifically described by Sir Henry Marsh, Bart., M.D., Physician in Ordinary to the Queen in Ireland, who, after extensive use, strongly recommended this preparation, and observed "I have frequently prescribed Dr de Jongh's Light-Brown Cod Liver Oil. I consider it to be a very pure oil, not likely to create disgust, and a therapeutic agent of great value." This eminent physician remarks That in strumous and emaciated patients this remedy tells with peculiar energy. A regular daily course of this animal oil is capable of bringing about a most remarkable and salutary change in all the vital function& It does that which is most required; it checks the progress of emaciation; restores the yielding health; rebuilds, as it were, the tottering frame; and its reviving and rean- ) imating effects are highly satisfactory in all those cases in '4 which the general health is impaired. Dr de Jongh's Light- •>} Brown Cod Liver Oil is sold only in capsuled imperial r halfpints, 2s. 6d.; pints, 4s. 9d.; quarts, 9s.; labelled with his stamp and signature, without which none can possibly be genuine, by his sole consignees, Ansar, Harford, and Co., 77, Strand, London; and respectable chemists. LICHFIELD CATHEDRAL.—Frequenters of our cathedral are aware that, for more than twelve months past, the large window at the west entrance has been entirely blocked up by a screen of boarding, which has been fixed there during the time the alterations to the window have been in progress. The old window has been removed, the architectural design entirely altered by Mr G. G. Scott, and a new one of stained glass, manufactured by the emi- nent firm of Clayton and Bell, of London, has been fixed during the past fortnight. The chief features are six large figures in the six divisions of the widow, representing St. Michael, St. Joseph, the Virgin and Child, and in the three others the Magi. At the extreme top of the win- dow is the representation of the Holy Trinity, and under- neath the Blessed Virgin and St. Simeon and Child. Be- neath the six large figures above referred to are six separate scriptural subjects, viz., the Annunciation, the Angel appearing to Joseph, the Nativity, Kings Journey- ing, Kings before Herod, and the Flight into Egypt, the other portions of the window being filled with exquisite de- signs of a floral and architectural character. The window, which is erected as a memorial to the late Rev. Canon Hutchinson, will be unveiled to-night, Mar. 27,and the morn- ing rays of Easter Sunday will, for the first time, illumine it, and disclose to spectators a new and strikingly beau- tiful feature in our noble cathedral -Staffordshire Adver- tiser,
