He will here find a elite to guide him through the intricate mazes of this moral tabyrmth, and a standard whereby to judge, when delicacy of health should appear to attack any of his young charges, what the real causes of such attack may be,and thus be will be enabled to check tbe evil in its incipient state. The peculiar recommendations of the ASAM-LEAF are attested by the rigid scrutiny and closc analysis to which, this newly-discovered species of Tell. has been subjected by chemical and medical practitioners. The flavour of the Leaf is agreeably piquant and aromatic, and its infusion in cases of thirst is cool and pene- trating. As a stomachic beverage, it is perfectly wholesome and refreshing, and its dilutory properties on the diges- tive organs render it an invaluable stimulant to appetite. It must be particularly remembered that this Tea requires to be steeped twice as long as common Tea, otherwise there will not be a fair opportunity of judging of the piquancy of the tiavour. The MAESTEG IRON WORKS, near BRIDGEND and NEATH, in the County of GLAMORGAN. — By Messrs. IIOGGART, NORTON', and OAKLEY. at the Mart, on FtU- DAY, October 27, at Twelve, by direction of the assignees. THESE highly Important and most Valuable IRON JL WORKS possess peculiar advantages, which can scarcely be equalled in the kingdom, and are situate about nine miles from Bridgend and Neath, with a horse railway for conveyance of the produce to Portheawl, and they will shortly have the advantage of the South Wales and Lynfi Valley Railways, now in progress. They con- sist ot three blast furnaces and east houses, two blast engines, capable of blowing four blast furnaces, three re- fineries, foundry for railway chairs, with steam-engine and two cupolas, two winding engine*, seventy coke ovens, two capital dwelling-houses, workmen's cottages, &c., and the abunilanne of the minerals would justify the erection of a much larger number of furnaces. The Works have been recently very considerably enlarged. They are in complete repair, and their present capability amounts to 15,000 tons of pig iron per annum, with the means of converting 120 tons per week into refined metal, and 70 tons per week into railway chairs. The quality of the iron made is valuable, both for foundry and forge purposes, uniting the fluidity of the Scotch with the strength of the Welsh, and exceeding the Scotch in de- flexion before breaking 50 per cent. The beneficial in- terest consists of leases, the unexpired term of which vary from 55 to Ti years. The extcnt. of the mincral ground is 910 acres, of which there are 326 of valuable blaekband iron ore, and the whole of the ground abounds with coal aud argillaceous ironstone. The royalty upon the greater part of the minerals, including the blaek hand. is only 6d per ton, and the fixed rents are almost nominal, May be viewed on application to Mr. CHARLES HAMPION, late Manager of the Works; and full par- ticulars had of Messrs. I 'PHK SILENT FRIEND is a Medical Work, J_ written in language devoid of professional technicalities, oUlhc physical dlsqll.!ll:icilljOIlS affecting the generative system in hoih sexes. It contains an elaborate and carefully-written account of the Anatomy and Physiology of the Organs in Man whieh are directly and indirectly concerned in the func- tion of generation (illuUrated by coloured engravings), aud the Causes and Consequences resulting from the baneful practice tiv- which the vigour and manliness of Life are enerv- ated and destroyed, even helore nature has fully established the powers and stamina of the constitution. Local and gene- ral debility, nervous itrr.Jtitity and excitement, consumption indigestion of the most fearful and exhausting kind, intense melancholy and depression of the spirits, and partial or com- plete. extinction of the re-productive powers, Ike., are thus produced. In the SILENT FRIEND, the chapter devoted to the consideration of these dreadful complaints contains also an account of the means hy which they may be prevented and removed, so as to restore the sufferer to the full enjoyment of health and the functions of manhood. The consequences resulting from venereal contamination are next pointed out, had the nature and character of tionor- rhcc:1, Gleet, Stricture, and Secondary Symptoms of every kind, are clearly explained, with directions for cure. Their dangerous effects on 11", human economy are sulficiemly dila- led on, and a means is also indicated by which the recurrence of these diseases may in every instance be completely prevented. The worK terminates with a chapter on the obligations of mar riage, the physical impe limeuts which tend to disqualify the caudidate for that holy SLitte, and the directions necessary for their removal. The work is illustrated by the detail of cases, aud by 20 coloured engravings oil steel, thus rendering it what its name purports it to be, the true but silent friend to all suffering from the consequences of early error and vice.—a work which may be consulted without exposure, and with every assurance of complete success aud beuelit.
