The peculiar recommendations of the ASAM-LBAF are attested by the rigid scrutiny and close analysis to which, this Uewlv-discovered species of Tea has been subjected by chemical and medical practitioners. The flavour of the Leaf is agreeably piquant and aromatic, and its infusion in cases of thirst is cool and pene- trating. As a stomachic beverage, it is perfectly wholesome and refreshing, and its dilutory properties on the diges- tive organs render it an invaluable stimulant to appetite. It must be particularly remembered that this Tea requires to be steeped twice as long as common Tea, otherwise there will not be a fair opportunity of judging of the piquancy of the flavour. TWENTY-FIFTH EDITION, Illustrated with 26 Anatomical Coloured Engravings on Stee?, On Physical Disqualifications, Generative Inca- pacity, 8f Impediments to Marriage, THE SILENT FRIEND, A New Edition, enlarged to 196 pages, Price 2s. 6d. In order to ensure secrecy and punctuality in delivery, the Work will he sent direct from the Establishment, free to any part of the kingdom, in a sealed envelope, on the receipt of 3s. 6d. in postage stamps. rpHE SILENT FRIEND is a Medical Work, I written in language devoid of professional technicalities, on the physical disqualiifcations affecting the generative system in both sexes. It contains an elaborate and carefully-written account of the Anatomy and Physiology of the Organs in Man which are directly and indirectly concerned in the func- tion of generation (illustrated by coloured engravings), aud the Causes and Consequences resulting from the baneful practice by which the vigour and manliness of Life are enerv- ated and destroyed, even before nature has fully established the powers and stamina of the constitution. Local and gene- ral debility, nervous irritability and excitement, consumption, indigestion of the most fearful and exhausting kind, intense melancholy and depression of the spirits, and partial or com- plete extinction of the re-productive powers, &c., are thus produced. In the SltENT FRIEND, the chapter devoted to the consideration of these dreadful complaims contains also an account of the means by which they may be prevented and removed, so as to restore the sufferer to the full enjoyment of health and the functions of manhood. The consequences resulting from venereal contamination are next pointed out, and the nature and character of Gonor- rhoea, Gleet, Stricture, and Secondary Symptoms of every kind, are clearly explained, with directions for cure. Their dangerous effects on the human economy are sufficiently dila- ted on, and a means is also indicated by which the recurrence of these diteases may in every instance be completely prevented. The work terminates with a chapter on the obligations of mar riage, the physical impediments which tend to disqualify the candidate for that holy state, and the directions necessary for their removal. The work is illustrated by the detail of cates, and by 26 coloured engravings on steel, thus rendering it what its name purports it to be, the true but silent friend to all slIlfuing from the consequences of early error and vice,—a work which may be consulted without exposure, and with every assurance of complete success and benefit. PART THE FIRST of this work is dedicated to the consi- deration of the Anatomy and Physiology of th, generative functions. It embraces a succinct account of all the organs iu man which arc engaged in the important function of the re- production of the species, and the mode in which self-abuse operates to the injury of the human frame, and tht; destruc- tion of the special and vital powers. This is illustrated by six coloured engravings. PART THE SECOND treats of the infirmities and decay of the system produced by over indulgence of the passions. ) he existence of nervous and sexual debility and incapacity, with their accompanying train of symptoms and disorders, are treated by the chain of connecting results to this cause. This section is illustrated by three coloured engravings, which fully display the effects of physical decay. PART THE THIRD contains an accurate description of the diseases caused by infection, and by the abuse of mercury; primary and secondary symptoms, eruptions of the skia, sore throat, inflammation of the eyes, disease of the b'mes, gonor- rhoea, gleet, stricture, &c., are shown to depend on this cause. Advice for the treatment of all these diseases and their con- sequences is teudered in this section, which if duly followed up, cannot fail in effectiug a cure. The Patt is illustrated by seventeen coloured engravings. PART THE FOURTH.—Treats of the Prevention of Disease by a simple application, by which the danger of inf'ctiou is obviated. Its action is simple but sure. It acts with the virus chemically, and destroys its power ou the system. 1'his important part of the Work should be read by every Young Man entering into life. 1 PART THE FIFTH treats of Marriage, its obligations and disqualiifcations. The causes which lead to happiness in the marriage state are dwelt upon, and those which are indi- cative of misery and domestic inquietude. The uature, ori- gin, and treatment of physical disqualiifcations are also described, and remedies for this state form an important, con- sideration in this section of the work. The diffidence and distrust which are among the natural consequences of these affections, frequently prevent persons from applying for assistance until great, although not perhaps irremediable mischief has been inflicted 011 the constitution and powers of life. It is to be hoped that the perusal of this work will teach such persons the injurious consequences of delay, and lead them at once to seek that advice and counsel, by which alone they can be saved from the horrors of an existence protracted amidst long enduring wretchedness, both of mind and body. The CORDIAL BALM of SYR.IACU.YI is expressly em- ployed to renovate the impaired powers of life, when ex- hausted by the influence exerted by solitary indulgence on the system. Its action is purely balsamic; its power in reinvigor- atiug the frame in all cases of nervous and sexual debility, obstinate gleets, impotency, barrenness, aId debilities arising from venereal excesses, has been demonstiated by its unvary- ing success in thousands of cases To those persons who are prevented entering the married state by the consequences of early errors, it is invaluable.
