COUNTY COUNCIL ELECTIONS. The polling for the Cardiganshire County Council Elections took place on Friday. In the four divisions >f Aberystwyth it passed off very quietly, and con- trasted greatly with the Town Council eledtiops in November, which created much stir. The candidates For Ward 1 were Jur W. Hughes-Jenes, solicitor, and Mr J. P. Thomas, chemist. The booths were at the old Grammar School, St Michael's place, and Mr was the H. L. Evans, presiding officer, and Mr Rd. Griffiths poll clerk. For Mr Hughes- Jone*, Capt Morris was the personating agent, and for Mr Thomas, Captain David Jones. There was no con- test in Ward 2, Mr D. C. Roberts, the old member, being returned without opposition. In Ward;3-the polling station for which was at the Town Hall-the eombatants were Mr Robert Ellis, chemist, and Dr T. P. Beddoes. Mr Herbert Hughes "cted as pre- siding officer, and Mr David Jones, as poll clerks, Mr James L. Hughes being the personating agent for Mr Ellis, and Mr Salmon, Lisburne Arms, for Dr Beddoes. In Ward 4, the contestants were Alderman C. M. Williams, the retiring member, and Capt Doughton. The polling station was at the Board cichool, w ><⢠e Mr Charles Massey was the presiding officer, Mr D. Pugh Evans, poll clerk, and Mr W. Edwards, mason, and Capt Evaus acted as personation agents.
