It is impossible to enumerate the numerous articles comprised in this department; suffice it to say, families will find the stock as extensive and varied as in any of the largest Metro- politan Establishments. WINE & SPIRIT DEPARTMENT. SPECIAL REMABKS. It is a subject of general complaint that the consumer does not realize proportionate benefit- from the late reduction of duty on Wine. To a great extent the fault lies with the consumer himself, and arises from his being fast wedded to old prejudices, that do not permit him fairly to recognize the benefit of the new order of things. The proprietor, buying direct from the grower, saves all intermediate profit-a fact that should not go unnoticed, as it enables him successfully to compete with the largest firms in the Wine trade. Families are assured that all the Wines and Spirits supplied by this establishment are perfectly free from any adultera- tion, and each article as pure as from the Vine. The proprietor calls particular attention to the following selected articles which he considers well worthy of attention. In addition to the manufacture of Steam Engines, Boilers, Plaining and Sawing Machines, Water Wheels, Mining and Quarry Machinery, the general business of Engineers & Iron and Brass Founders will be carried on.
